C'est parce que le français est la langue de l'amour, monsieur! :0)vurt wrote:ChamMusic wrote:vurt wrote:why do "musket"eers use rapiers so much?
Serious answer....boo...
The French word mousquetaire originally referred to an infantryman with a musket.
Over time, the word changed its meaning, lost the connection with the weapon, and referred to a much 'grander' person.
A mousquetaire was a gentleman in one of the two companies of the royal household cavalry in pre-revolutionary France.
The companies were distinguished by the colour of the horses they rode - either grey or black. Thus there were mousquetaires gris and mousquetaires noirs. Cavalry have no use for clumsy muskets, which are difficult to reload at the best of times.
The problem we have is an over-literal translation of the French which loses the context.
cool tunes and education thrown in. whats not to love?
dunno why they cant just speak english like the rest of us

Either your French is seriously clunky or that was deliberately f#ckin' hilarious...I'm going for the latter! :0)vurt wrote:l'amour c'est bon, oui.

Wow,this is good. You are very talented. As soon as it began it reminded me of Zack Hemsey. I listen to loads of his work and really enjoyed this. I was waiting for some big drum break towards the end (that's just me
) but nevertheless I certainly wasn't disappointed. Excellent work!

Maybe a little less HYBRID than Zack Hemsey, but I'm more than happy with the comparison! :0)

This has got a really lively and playful feel to it, with a touch of seriousness thrown in for good measure, I listened to this on my BBC radio 3 system as I have it closest to my internet atm and was picking up some resonances in the first section, other than that

Thank you for that....that's exactly what it was meant to be...music for an action scene in a '3 Musketeers' movie! :0)Eauson wrote:This has got a really lively and playful feel to it, with a touch of seriousness thrown in for good measure
I know what resonance means, (been teaching music and music tech up to undergraduate level for decades), but I'm not quite sure what you mean here?Eauson wrote:picking up some resonances in the first section
What sort of resonance, what particular frequency range?

Sadly, I've just had it pointed out that IRON MAIDEN have a track of the same name...should've remembered that as I've seen them in concert many times! 0)low_low wrote:Haven't listened to the song yet, but love the name!
If you do have a listen, let me know what you think?

Thanks...yes, 100% Kontakt for the strings, (and all the other orchestral parts)...mainly Albion One by Spitfire Audio...there's a complete breakdown somewhere above as Wagtunes asked about it all.htcnext2 wrote:How did you make the strings? Ah, ok Kontakt.. Nice work.

I'm unsure of freq range, as I don't use a PC for listening, so do not have spectrum visualise, I send a Bluetooth signal, so this could a cause? It just made my speaker squeal a bit, as its the one I use to check my own mixes for any clashes, it also occurred when I listened solely through my speaker on my tablet which is another thing which I test mixes on, full speakers, RAM audax doesn't appear, however, nowadays playback to a large extent is via portable devices, so I always check. Its in the 0.00 - 0.22 sec range on playback, rises at 9 secs & 16-19 secs.ChamMusic wrote:Thank you for that....that's exactly what it was meant to be...music for an action scene in a '3 Musketeers' movie! :0)Eauson wrote:This has got a really lively and playful feel to it, with a touch of seriousness thrown in for good measure
