Help! Logic Win 5.51 freezes upon starting on my new laptop

Hey KingLouie,
I tried the fix again and it didn't help. In fact, it actually created a new problem. Logic now gives me a message saying the the gm synth is already in use, then I get the -999 error after it.
I tried every configuration too. I'm stumped.
Any other ideas?

Yeah, I would never have guessed istalling with the key in the port would cause a problem too. But that's computers for ya... Glad my friend was savvy to that!
Oh, and yes, I tried chainer standalone and it works.
So my problem has got to be Logic related, right? I dunno. As I said, I tried every configuration in Logic. Do you remember the settings you used in Logic for ASIO4ALL? If so, please relay 'em to me cause I'm stuck.
Oh well, maybe I'll focus on building my external firewire drive tonight to give my head a break.
Or maybe I'll find new problems with that...

Well that's your problem right there...the GM Synth is already in use.

What's using it? If you can find out and disable it ASIO4ALL should start working...Post if you figure out what the hell's going on.

I was just having the same start problem with Logic ("Initializing external... ).
In my case it was caused by the Kerio firewall.
Desinstalled it, installed another one and my Logic sings again !!!
