I'll wager that's bastard brass dispensed with for at least another year when I foolishly again think, "ah, some brass would be good on this..".

Or until you suggest I add brass to one of my tracks, and I give you the standard "I always find programmed brass sounds fake" reply...

Not to say I never add brass to anything, but I do sometimes wish I had brass instruments and that it hadn't been ~30 years since I last played them. At this stage, the programmed stuff will probably sound better than my feeble attempts

Memories of my slightly more youthful days - I was still old in the seventies.

It came across as a well developed successful song when I listened.

I always usually adjust the vocals a bit (more often than not up a touch ) after coming back to a song after a week or so - bit of perspective and all that. I'll sit on this a bit longer then see how it sounds. Got some Stooges ripo..homage thing on the go now..

Lyrically, seem to be writing quite a bit of obliquely political stuff in my old age..world being how it is. Best leave it there, don't want to end up in HPC..

Don't know how hard it would be to come back to playing brass instruments as I never have done. Got back into the guitar quite easily, but the last time I played the drums (briefly in a shop) it was appalling - I blame the fact that there were too many toms.

Thank you for the review! Now your song: I couldn't get the latest mp3 to play using Google Chrome. After wrestling with it for awhile, I got it to play using firefox. For the most part, it sounds like it came from the late 60's/early 70's (not a bad thing), except the ping pong delay. Singing is pretty good, perhaps a teensy bit pitchy. I like the brass section. The guitar playing and strings are fine. I like the bass riffs. It is good that it is upbeat. Nice job overall.

Cheers. Which bits of the vocals sound out of tune to you? Given the style I obviously didn't want to autotune the life out of them, but I did think I'd corrected all the worst offenders!

Not overpowering, but it cut through the mix and had just the right amount of "snap". The strings worked out nicely. Nice clear vox. as usual, and the indie section was a good fit with the rest of the track.

I've been seeing a lot of Nile Rodgers on the telly recently. You've rattled his cage.

As above! See,ms like this one is done and dusted then I reckon. Time to go back to the troublesome New Order ripoff perhaps, or mebbe a stab at something gospel tinged..
