Yeah, don't act like the problem of shit not working is my fault like I don't get how websites work.
How are you the face of a company for this website? JFC, man.
Don't bother, I have no more time for the nonsense of it all.
NB: I was perfectly happy to re-do the whole password bit, which the Auth Manager is supposed to link to. It did not.
Period. This is not me misunderstanding a damn thing. It was some extra steps, and then log-in was extra-problematic, which wasn't me or my understanding of logging into websites either.
I bought into IKMM before the whole install-a-web browser and put-crippled-plugins-I do-not-want-to-demo like I'm attention deficient inside the plugin routine. IIRC the whole install-every-known-thing-in-category only to delete most of it from 3 directories in Plugins came with that genius marketing cart-before-the-horse of using what you did buy BS.

I don't care how good it is..ChamomileShark wrote: Mon Dec 10, 2018 5:19 pm I got the copy of Computer music...
I went to the DVD with it and copied the White 2a file to find it's simply a set of instructuions
I went to the FileSilo...
I went to the magazine page and typed in the magic word and unlocked the vault..
I then found another lot of instructions...
I went to the Future page to register...
I got the e-mail asking me to confirm my e-mail address....
I got the serial....
Read the next lot of instructions telling me I now have to download IK Multimedias download manager..and I quote
"How to install and authorise IK Multimedia White 2A
1. Visit the IK Multimedia website here: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/am and then download the Authorization Manager utility (select Mac or Windows as required). Once downloaded, install it.
2. Run the Authorization Manager utility. If you already have an IK user account then enter your Username and Password when requested. If not, the utility will let you create a user account.
3. Open the Authorization Manager utility, click Next, enter the White 2A serial number that you have been emailed, then hit Next again to complete the registration process.
4. The Authorization Manager will then open your web browser and ask you to log in. Next, on the My Products page, download the basic T-RackS 5 interface, called T-RackS 5 Custom Shop. If you are not offered the download, visit http://www.ikmultimedia.com/userarea and select the My Products section. In here you will find the T-RackS 5 Custom Shop download (for Mac or Windows).
5. Once downloaded, install T-RackS 5 Custom Shop.
5 Started download... saw it was more than 1G>>> CANCELL
6... back to normal>>> phew
and I'm losing the will to live.
FOUND the will to live gain...![]()
BTW... Is the IK White 2a any good?
damn my coffee is VERY good!

Regarding the size of TR5, you can grab TR4 from the "Past Releases" section in your user area. It's much smaller and most of the new features of TR5 are only available if you buy the full package. So TR4 is enough for the White 2A. It's what I use here as there's no benefit in going to TR5 for me.

They wouldn't be in my inbox since I'm not in tech support but if you provide your ticket number I'd be happy to let the support team know you're waiting. Please note that your ticket will typically be responded to within 1-2 business days (M-F) so it may have already been responded to or will be very soon.sqigls wrote: Tue Dec 11, 2018 12:40 am TWO IK PEOPLE IN THIS THREAD!!!?

We've mentioned adding sidechain input to T-RackS processors to the team in the past but will definitely give the request a bump for you. Thanks!mrj1nx wrote: Tue Dec 11, 2018 4:35 am Since theres IK people here: What is the chance of the White 2A getting a sidechain input in an update? That would be really nice!

Guys: no one is forcing you to download and use this. IK have the most convoluted purchasing/installing system.. we know this already
IKM: Why not make an installer (standalone, not app) that lets you pick which T-Racks modules you install? Black Rooster Audio do this rather nicely.

I didn't know and to an extent my frustation was more about the lack of clarity from the outset by Computer Music and the number of hoops I needed to get through to actually see what I would need to do to get the thing on my PC.MogwaiBoy wrote: Wed Dec 12, 2018 3:08 am Guys: no one is forcing you to download and use this. Unfortunately I have to agree,
this bloated Custom Shop thingy makes me rather stay away from their products. It's hard to understand why they stick to that concept when a significant portion of their potential user base would prefer a simple and straight forward solution to installing and authorizing individual plugins.
But I guess it's their business concept and they want to stick to it regardless to the feedback they get from their user base?

There is room for improvement definitely. I really like Plugin Alliance's installer, that is so easy and lightweight. Or XLN Audio's installer. Or Toontrack's installer. Those are customer-friendly tools. And I have a hard time accepting that installing all of the t-racks plugins instead of selecting the purchased ones is a request coming from customers, because it really looks like a teaser so we might spend more money on it.
Though this is consistent with Amplitube, where in those menus every option is visible, all amps and pedals and whatnot, they are just grayed out. I understand that they(IK) are a business unit and they want to get money and pay bills and salaries, but if the company I work for would use such approaches in marketing and product development, I would leave them. I can opt out from marketing emails, but if the product always shows the other unpurchased options, that's like a marketing newsletter I cannot unsubscribe from.
But IK installer is still better than Waves, where I even had to google at first which folder to setup for Reaper so it can find the plugins.
OTOH removing those unpurchased IK plugins from the VST folder takes less time than writing a forum post, so I always choose to do that. I like White 2a, the Black 76, the Opto comp, Sampletank 3, ... Amplitube not so much. And trialing an IK plugin is also great: no random noises, no random audio stops, etc.
So nothing is simply white or black, except those compressors
I still like using IK plugins, and I believe they have some good people with great engineering skills and great ears, and they also have some business people with questionable decisions about how to sell all of this.

Who doesn't own everything t-Racks after their recent group-buy? I ended up with six or so free slots that I couldn't use because I already had them all.

I went through the hoops for the Black 76, and it took weeks out of my life. But the sound is there with these plugins. Because I already have the accounts for the chain of websites and logins required to make this happen, I’m pulling the trigger on the 2A. Currently stuck at a broken link in the email before getting my serial. Will have to keep trying it and see what happens.
Dear IK guys,
I appreciate that you are participating in this thread. Please take this from a user and perhaps pass it up the chain to whoever might care in your organization.
I’m tired of the plugin authorization bs and the marketing bs. The idea that you abused my plugin library with all your garbage because of “consumer request” is beyond laughable and frankly insulting. When I loaded my DAW after jumping all the hoops to install T Racks, to find out that my plugin selection panel was inundated with your “demos” it made me want to punch a puppy.
It isn’t easy to remove the plugins. Nothing is easy. It took me days to get your thing installed on my computer, the stuff wasn’t showing up in my DAW. It took about 4 days IIRC to hear back from your support and by then I had already figured it out. It took more time and effort to research and figure out how to delete your garbage from my library, and I may have inadvertently removed working plugins like an eq since I was having to delete files in my file system.
You are not doing yourself any favors. Many of us are weary of the authorization and marketing schemes. I still buy plugins from Waves but it takes sooo much to get me to do it. You are in the same category and I’ll only buy your plugins when I’m getting them for 90% off and it’s a legendary model. Your approach is directly responsible for how little I want to buy your plugins. You need to make all of this way easier, and way more customer friendly.
BTW, I wish you the best because your plugins are great. Please do better.
