You're welcome.

No worry !
donkey tugger wrote: Thu May 02, 2019 7:41 am ... but being an old git hobbyist with no pretensions of any music 'success'
How about the very own success with a polished sounded song ? :-)
donkey tugger wrote: Thu May 02, 2019 7:41 am ...every time someone has mixed or mastered something for me I've always in the end preferred the one I've done myself, warts and all..
You could be surprised that always could not be allWAYS ;-)
donkey tugger wrote: Thu May 02, 2019 7:41 am All that said, I'm interested in what areas you would look at in terms of improvement?
- more separation for all instruments and vocals (EQing)
- better stereo sound
- more power for the drums
- warmer lower mid and bass section
- more crispness
- smooth highend
- etc.

But in the end it´s a good song and could just climb some levels with a professional mix.
All the best

Hey DT, look at the guy's sig.

That says it all.

Love when people try to sell their services here.

Anyway, your stuff is great so don't sweat it.

don't give the "cant" ideas :o

And what's your problem wag tunes ?
I took some of my precious time and commented on his well done song.
I think you cannot stand professional work, so that's why you reply on every (good and mostly not so good) track, with your very own quality rating system, but ignore my work entirely.
Why so negative ?

Ignore your work? When have you ever posted a song here? Show me the thread and I'll be happy to comment on it.

And given that you do this professionally, I have no doubt that it's excellent. But that's not what I have a beef with.

But I don't expect you to understand that.

Than just look at the first site, my thread is on the first page for almost 2 weeks ... or hit the search button. I am on KVR since 2007 btw...

You have beef ? Sorry dude, but you´re really pitiable.
The guy asked me for some advice and I was kind enough to do so.
He can take it or leave it.
And as a professional it would be more than careless, not to offer him my service.
Here also he can take it or leave it.
The points I listed to improve his tune, can be a guide to do it himself.
Normally my students pay money for these mixing advices ...

I have no clue why you have beef with anything, but I did complete several courses of studies and you may rest assured, that I will understand any logical and reasonable argument.
But I doubt there is any, because your negativity is just destructive !

Edit: I just saw your sig, are you really serious ? What stuff are you smoking ?

Have a nice evening !

Ignoring your snarky remarks (this whole KVR schtick is getting very old) I listened to and commented on the track you posted. Sorry I missed it earlier. I try to make a point to comment on most tracks here as participation in this sub forum is pretty abysmal.

Anyway, have a nice day.

PS - I don't smoke.

Cheers, pretty vague though, and I'd definitely disagree about the top 3 at least, with the other being a matter of taste!

I wouldn't want it to sound any more sterile than it already is by cutting any more from individual instruments - indeed at the end I added 4 tracks of acoustic guitar played at different inversions that you can't really hear (but would notice if they weren't there) purely to blur things a bit for a more organic sound. Sometimes people obsess about 'clarity' to the detriment of the song - at times a bit of overlap and merging really adds to feel. Where would My Bloody Valentine be if they'd tried to make every instrument distinct? :hihi:

On the stereo - Overall I've already got a bit of expansion, and there's already a lot going on- the 12 string DI tracks are panned out to full l/r, the mic tracks are at about 60%. Then of course there's the slide and 'pedal steel' and varying degrees of panning of the backing vocals. Wouldn't want to pan out the drums any further as it starts to sound unnatural and loses focus.

On the drums, I was actually thinking of backing the velocities off a bit for a bit less power, as it's a brushes kit!

Difficult customer - been doing this a long time and like my own way of doing things, and have quite a specific 'sound'!

Cheers anyway, do keep on arguing with Wagtunes! :D

Wow! Absolutely love this. What a beautiful piece of music. One of the best (if not the best) I've listened to in the cafe. Great work!

It´s quite hypocritical to complain about my sig
and having one yourself, with the goal to pilot people to your site,
where you advertise paid stuff

Nothing to say against that, that's the way to do it
and I wish you as many customers as possible.

As a conclusion you have beef with your own business strategy ?
Congratulations !

I'm bored. Sheesh, you're not even an interesting nemesis. I've got some here who really entertain me.

Certainly you can do better than this.
