Hi sirmonkey. Polyphone was a great suggestion. I've used it like this in the past with excellent results. By the time I read this thread your post was about 3 months old and as OP hadn't responded to it I left it at that, but now you mention it again, I must concur.
And as well as being free, it's a simple download, no registration required. (Registration is only required for their forum and to download from their repository of soundfonts). Worth mentioning too that it is current updated software, not old and abandoned as one might think about anything to do with 'soundfonts'.
One tiny correction...to convert to sfz it's not 'Save as' you want, it's 'Export soundfonts'.
