Still didn't get it, how much costs the upgrade from Pro to Vektor.
Added: found, 5 dollars.

Seems to be much better but I'm still struggling with a few things.kvotchin wrote: Fri Aug 21, 2020 2:21 pm Those of you who’ve upgraded from Pro to Vector:
How does the CPU usage and performance in general compare?
Everett: When I have "Intel Parallel CPU" turned on oscillator detune activated, I get all sorts of crackling and clicks, even though the CPU usage does decrease. I've tried tweaking all of the settings, and I can't get the broken noises to stop.

Intel AVX basically gives you 8 detune voices for the cpu price of 2. That is the purpose of parallel processing. The detune voices are all executed in parallel instead of in a loop. So, say for instance, you create a preset with an oscillator with 3 detune voices and you crank up the detune voices to 8 and the CPU goes through the roof. Then you enable AVX and the CPU goes back down to where it was with 3 voices and it is still running 8 voices.
Bug reporting procedures have not changed. Just send a bug report to our support email. You will probably be told to save your preset and send it to me so I can debug it.

I think $5 is to upgrade to v3.0 Not for Vector.Igro wrote: Fri Aug 21, 2020 2:17 pm Still didn't get it, how much costs the upgrade from Pro to Vektor.

The upgrade to Vector is $125 minus your previous amounts you spent buying and upgrading from your first purchase ever.
Right?

Hmm.. this whole Fathom product line could be a lot better explained on the website. It is extremely confusing how it all works and what costs what. Heck, I can't even find a place to purchase Vector.. nor does a new user who stumbles upon the website have any way of understanding what Vector even is and how it's related to Fathom Pro. There is literally zero information of Vector on the website.
Also, I have absolutely no idea what I own or what I can download.. or even how.. at least not from a quick look. According to my paypal history I purchased something called "Fathom Pro Ultimate Bundle" back in 2018. Does this mean that for me to get the new "vector-oscillator-whatever-the-heck-that-is", I should email somewhere, then get some kind of refund, then purchase the thing for the full price once I've got my refund? Seriously?
Also.. I can not see anywhere on the webpage where I should actually purchase vector. Under the 'BUY' page on the website I simply see Fathom Pro.
FathomSynth Look.. surely you must see how incredibly convoluted and weird this whole process is? Other companies simply have a basic user account system where it's easy to see what you have purchased and what you are entitled to download and also what you can upgrade and for how much.
Also, if the price is now 125$ it immediately puts the pricing at the same line as a lot of the mainstream competition. Your website and how "legit" it all feels is definitely nowhere near the quality of the competition.
If you want any chance of actually getting Fathom to a larger audience, you absolutely must invest some proper time in the actual website and how the whole shopping/user area thing works. We are in the year 2020 where a complete web novice can create a great shopping experience in about 20 minutes using something like Squarespace (or any myriad of free alternatives/plugins for wordpress etc.).
I know you've put a lot of work on the actual synth but please consider putting some work on the other stuff that matters..

Nice! I'll have to see if I can get the upgrade!Tricky-Loops wrote: Fri Aug 21, 2020 2:24 am Just came to say hello...and congratulations for the release. Unfortunately I have many not-audio-related expenses at the moment, but someday...

Can somebody explain exactly where the installer is?
I have Fathom Pro 2.33 and have downloaded Mono: both of these extract to show dll files no sign of any installer?
See install pdf: I can't find it. Can't you give us a link to the install pdf.
I'm with bmanic on this - a real mess.

Dunc,
There is no installer for Fathom Pro. You only need to run Install.exe if you have the Pro AVX release or Fathom Vector.
Bmanic,
Send me an email to the support@fathomsynth.com and I will manage the whole process for you if you like.

OK, for those of you who found the existing instructions terrifying or disturbing,
I completely rewrote the instructions page.
https://www.fathomsynth.com/avx
It now includes only a simple list of things you need to do.
I made it so my pet rabbit could understand it.
All the specific details which I would have to explain to people in the email anyway have been moved out and each user will just have that explained to them individually when they email us.
