If you like them buy them, worrying about their unknown future development is kind of silly imo as you
never know how your regard of them will change. Then again, I was an early adopter and probably
own 80% of them and haven't used them in years.

Maybe I am too biased, don't know, but my opinion is: all Melda plugins are very great and inovative and thus worth the money. Regarding mixing and mastering I almost use only Melda plugins for many years now already and I can get my stuff done really fast with them. The "generators" by Melda are also great. I used MDrummer, MPowerSynth and of courser now MSoundFactory a lot already. MSF is even my go to synth since it came out, hehe (before MSF it was MPS).

Also: these tools are being updated very fast and frequent and you get similar useful features in almopst every plugin like the modulators or multiparameter. Also the plugin seem very stable and compatible to me. Also the price policy is ... well ... imo it's even "too nice", haha. These tools should be even more expensive, in my opinion. :D ... also the free lifetime update policy is very customer friendly. Also thinking professionally: making money with the plugins can pay themself quite fast, when you take the update price in account, which is 0€. :D

I think the main critic about Melda plugins by some people is the GUI. This is understandable, since everybody has its own likes and dislikes. So if you already tested the demos and like the tools GUIs, you are good to go. ;)

I've never seen so much speculation about someone's death that isn't actually dead - like Jim Morrison.

On the bright side, if you feel depressed, you can never say, "Nobody would care if I died."

My condolences to everyone who's sensitive about death. It's definitely one of those things you might as well joke about because it's already my biggest motivator. Hopefully everyone here is doing well.

Vojtech will be an Elvis of the underground. He will disappear in a mythical city called Emphis.

Which of course will then take the name of MEmphis.

Seems to me this discussion might be backwards. When you buy a plugin the investment in not in the "thing" and what it can do, but rather in yourself and what you can do with it. I've worked on projects with individuals where the "Melda way" would be a near total loss, too many knobs, too many menus, too much to learn/know. And yet, most of them completely creative musicians that I really appreciate being around. I've been at this "business" for a while now, and I don't lack for experience, but I get consistently "Chandlered" around here all the time :dog:...just a thought .../s~

Can't believe that people worry about the health of the developers when they buy software.

I think the main issue was how to ensure the lifetime free update thingy. Which lifetime? Focus on free? Focus on update? Guys not only mentioned the health but also bancrupcy, family planning, technical aspects, just anything that could end the "promis" which already was made sound less confident on the website itself.
And I agree on clarification for any developer who puts these marketing claims in. I've meanwhile spent so much money on plugins and got disappointed that much that I even check how to hold companies accountable for the marketing bs they're putting up :hihi:

Good investment? What I can say on that: for sure not at full price :D

Post

Of course "lifetime" refers to the lifetime of the software.

Regardless of that, it's pretty insane to consider all these things. As you say, every business, especially small one man businesses, can close doors tomorrow. I buy software for what it is, not what it becomes. I don't, and can't know what it becomes, but, I know for sure what it is.

At least you're not dependent on servers that could be shut down with Melda plugins. So you'll be able to use the software as long as you live. Some big companies will make your plugins unusable after a few years.

If you don't believe the plugins are worth the money now, I wouldn't by them. You have no guarantee that you will receive the updates you want. Although it's much likely here than with bigger companies who rarely listen to their customers.

I work in software and I'm amazed at the number of updates made by Vojtech, and amazed at the care he gives tot he software. It comes close to no other plugin company whose plugins I use, and while on Linux, I do use a good amount of Windows plugins from various popular vendors.

Of course it's horses for courses, but I bought the TotalFX Bundle many years ago and have never looked back.

It's been the best investment I've ever made. I've also gone on to buy MDrummer, and MPS and MSF as soon as they came out. They are all my go-to plugins. I only use a handful (literally 2 or 3) other plugins now.

The support and upgrades are phenomenal. I love them!

If for any reason they were discontinued, I would be totally lost.
