Wow...what a cool question.
Will we have a league like they do with fantasy football, where we can buy and sell players if they're not performing well? hehe
Oooo....tuffy this....
Electronics/Sampling - Kieran Hebden
Drums - Bill Bruford
Bass - Tony Levin
Acoustic Guitar - Steve Hackett
Electric Guitar - Steve Wilson (Of Procupine Tree....into his psychedelic sound so the output would be interesting, altho I'm sure there are technically better guitarists)
Vocals - Erm....That singer from Ms John Soda, or maybe Valerie wossname from Lali Puna - I really like this kinda melancholy vocal thing going on in so much german electronica at the mo)
God knows what that would sound like. Crap, probably!

Drums: Tony Williams (Miles Davis) or Max Weissenfeldt (Whitefield Brothers)
Percussion: Michael Viner (Incredible Bongo Band)
DX7 Engineer: Lonnie Liston Smith
SK-1 Live Circuit Bender: Q.R. Ghazala
Live Dub FX specialist: Mad Professor
Rhodes: Jay Hurren (E-Z Rollers)
Don't wonder about those "special jobs", it wouldn't be a classic kind of band...

That's unbelievable, I read of the dreamband, wanted to write the singers - and my fav singer is mentioned by vurt who is on an EP with him
. No, unbelievable
. Saw Edward Ka-Spel playing many years ago at Heidelberg, after about 3 1/2 hour I had to go (grrrr) and they still played (well for another 2 minutes I was told
)
So singer: Tony Childs (what a voice) Kate Bush, Edward Ka-Spel, Michael Stipe, Joan Armatrading, Klaus Nomi
Bass: Chris Squire, Tony Levin, then an about 21-years-old-man who isn't fictional but I dunno the name
; and the contrabass-player from Buena vista social club
Guitar: Jan Akkerman!, Steve Hackett, Robbie Smith, Steve Howe, Jens
(no joke, heard a song I like that much:D)
keyboards: Igor Koroshev (Ex-Yes, by the way played some songs for cakewalk I think? Sonar or so), Ray Charles, Silverman, Martha Argerich (was in love with her when I was 14, hihi, classical pianist of outrrrrageous abilities)
Violin and voice: Laurie Anderson
Whole band
: Mogwai (yes, must be all
).
And a lot more, err. What a fine idea, a dream band...
Cheers! Guess anyone here could listen to his and her dreamband

I like those threads..... as opinions are changing weekly:
Off-KvR (no KvRian allowed since it would make two list with the same names
):

Guitar: John Mayer
Bass: Matt Malley
Drums: Steven Chopek
Keys: Adam Duritz
Producer: T-Bone Burnett, Gil Norton & John Alagia
Mixing Engineer: Jack Joseph Puig
KvR:
Vocals: Resonance & Pob
Guitar: Horse
Bass: Markleford & Horse
Drums: Larry Ortega
Keys: Resonance (if he played on his songs) & Putte
M-Tron: Garret
Atmo: Vurt
Audio Engineer: Bitcrusher (sorry Steve.... if KvRians were allowed you would've ended up in the first list for sure)

Gosh this is a tough question, since there are so many genres of music
I'll go with a Jazz/Fusion Big Band
Guitar - John McLaughlin
Bass - Jaco Pastorius
Drums - Buddy Rich
Sax 1 - John Coltrane
Sax 2 - Eric Doplhy
Trumpet/Bandleader - Miles Davis
Keyboards - Jan Hammer
Organ - Larry Young

Well, it would change on a weekly basis, but right now :
Vox - Mike Patton(ex-Faith No More) and/or KaRIN (Collide).
Guitar - Wes Borland (ex-Limp Bizkit), capable of a lot more than showed on those numbskull records.
Drums - Chris Vrenna (NIN, Tweaker)
Bass - Ryan Martinie (Mudvayne) or Peter Hook (New Order)
Keyboards - Statik (Collide)
Ableton Live - Robert Henke (Monolake) or Richie Hawtin...for live looping, sound mangling and FX.
