Yeah, for sure I feel much better giving Bitwig my cold hard earned cash, it's just weird to deny that Logic isn't one of the most frequently updated DAWs out there, pretty much the only other DAW that comes close is Cubase. everyone else is playing catch up, (barring completely unique features that the others don't really do right, which Bitwig does a lot of).pdxindy wrote: Fri Oct 16, 2020 6:42 amLogic 10.5 was an amazing and truly immense update. It took 10-15 minutes just to read through the changelog. It also doesn't count in a way cause Apple can easily put serious development resources into it and year after year not charge for it. Logic's future looks bright.machinesworking wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2020 9:02 pmYou must not own Logic then.m43lstr0m wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2020 8:39 pm Bitwig Studio 3 is the DAW that just gives and gives.
Crazy how Ableton 10 and Logic Pro are still the most popular, where from my angle it's always Bitwig, Studio One, and FL Studio making all the big moves with each update.
I'm glad to have both Bitwig and Logic. They each do stuff the other cannot.

For sure, and honestly I own it, and use Bitwig and DP10 a lot more than it. I'm slowly easing back into it, (maybe), but I cannot deny it's upgrade cycle. Bitwig, if it ever gets the collaboration feature will become a defacto DAW for this modern time, because it's multi platform.SLiC wrote: Fri Oct 16, 2020 5:46 amUnfortunately you can on.y own Logic if you run a Mac, Bitwig runs on Mac, PC and Linux so is cross platform.machinesworking wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2020 9:02 pmYou must not own Logic then.m43lstr0m wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2020 8:39 pm Bitwig Studio 3 is the DAW that just gives and gives.

The collaboration feature is definitely coming...I suspect it will be the 'headline' feature of V 3.5 or 4 (which I suspect will be the next release early in the new year)
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I just migrated last night to Linux and it's f**ing liberating - much less DAWs to choose from, much less native plugins, much less distractions. Learn what you already have time! I know normal people can "will" themselves through this "option paralysis" thing, but I have to impose real, physical restrictions on myselfmachinesworking wrote: Fri Oct 16, 2020 8:36 am...Bitwig, if it ever gets the collaboration feature will become a defacto DAW for this modern time, because it's multi platform.
Now I only need to decide which forums to leave... And which DAWs and plugins to sell...

Well, I see you regularly on the Live forum, Gearslutz, MPC Forum...

Then its easy, leave the Live forum - Live doesn't run on Linux. Max/MSP is almost the only reason I stick with a Mac...

I've an account there, but I very very rarely go there. I've to choose 1 or max 2 from: KvR, Gearslutz, MPC Forums, Reasontalk, DiscordTj Shredder wrote: Fri Oct 16, 2020 9:07 amThen its easy, leave the Live forum - Live doesn't run on Linux. Max/MSP is almost the only reason I stick with a Mac...

If any DAW keeps on giving and deserves every bit of fame, it's Logic X for last 7 years of free updates, just look at 10.5 change log, sure, others are making big moves, but most are catching up and than they get left far behind as soon as some of their features get implemented in competition.m43lstr0m wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2020 8:39 pm Bitwig Studio 3 is the DAW that just gives and gives.

Depends on demographic you look at, FL is far more popular in bigger hobbyist/bedroom market than Live and Logic, where in smaller pro market where Mac, dongle and price aren't big deal or deal breakers, Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic and etc. are still the established standards.

Great update. I should really start getting more familiar with Bitwg (I have a 8-track license I got from Beat magazine), or at least make some headway recreating all of the custom racks I made for my favourite third party plugins, so that if/when Live 11 drops in a couple of years and it leaves me feeling wanting, it won't be so painful to make the jump.
Always Read the Manual!

Anyone else having issues with metering? Peak levels shown in the mixer are wrong. Far too low. With the same project in 3.2.8 my kick track showing -10db , in 3.3 beta it shows -20db (also on Master bus)... Same meter mode (peak). My Fabfilter Pro-L limiter plugin on the master bus does show the right level...

All the DAWS you mention are great and if you have a Mac Logic looks like a great DAW, but there is something fun about supporting and following the journey of the 'small developers' like Bitwig who often think a bit more left field. I like using Bitwig as it isn't an 'established standard', its something a bit new and although I still use StudioOne a lot as a bread and butter DAW, Bigwig is the one that makes me happy insidePassing Bye wrote: Fri Oct 16, 2020 10:19 amIf any DAW keeps on giving and deserves every bit of fame, it's Logic X for last 7 years of free updates, just look at 10.5 change log, sure, others are making big moves, but most are catching up and than they get left far behind as soon as some of their features get implemented in competition.m43lstr0m wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2020 8:39 pm Bitwig Studio 3 is the DAW that just gives and gives.

One of the best updates for any music software in my opinion. I think it’s one of those rare instances where a feature I actually enter (optimizations) happened.
I also really love the Polymer approach - give me the fixed architecture interface I’m familiar with and let me expand it at will. Such a brilliant extension of the modular concept and modularity within Bitwig. And I really appreciate the new vibrato lfo and ramp modulators.
If they implement feedback routing so I have no reason to use Ableton, I’m practically set.
