Are there any real good VST flanger FX plugins?

A long time ago I asked here why digital modulation FX sounded to me to be poorer than the analogue ones, both in hardware & software. Someone explained it to me but I've forgotten, but apparently there is some difference.
The one I liked best in vst is the Eventide Instant Flanger. As other have said some of the tape emulations can do a nice flanger.
You might want to try Valhalla's Space Modulator, it's free and there might be something in there you like.

A flanger is a delay-based effect - Shade does not include delay (at least not yet) - I guess you confuse flanger with phaser

I'm not sure I would ever swear by any flanger. The effect itself is pretty basic. Maybe what you're looking for is a combination of a flanger with EQ/saturation to alter the tonal qualities and maybe automation of some of the rate and depth parameters to simulate imperfect hardware.
One plugin I can think of that seems to do all (or most of) that is ToneBoosters TB Module. Unfortunately it was just killed.

Surely there must be consensus by now...

This is still my favourite. And, yeah, I believe it is part of their general modulation plugin now: https://www.audiodamage.com/products/ad040-quatromodGaryG wrote: Tue Jan 12, 2021 7:15 am The old Audio Damage Liquid flanger was nice, true through zero flanging etc. I think it's now bundled with the other mod effects, quadmod or something?

Do you always LOL when you didn't just click the link? Yes UVI Shade does Flanger.jens wrote: Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:37 pmlol....mtelesha wrote: Tue Jan 12, 2021 4:10 pm UVI Shade is the best Flanger and about any other kind of EQ effect plugin ever. DOn't like the sound tweak to your hearts delight.

Shade is an extremely capable phaser and flanger. Combine any of the classic or more exotic phaser and flanger filter shapes with Shade's modulation system, LFO, MSEG, Figure, Spread, and animate to taste. Roll your own or check out the fantastic collection of phaser and flanger presets for instant gratification.
EDITED; Flanger is a typical Comb filter with a tiny bit of delay which causing PHASING. You can do it with just eq.

My favorites are probably the Arturia, ADA, Flair, and Instant Flanger (in that order).

Damn, the sounds are great. Is it that the sounds going into the flanger were ideal for it, or is it that the flanger is just so cool sounding? If the latter, I want a VST version STAT.Lotuz2019 wrote: Tue Jan 12, 2021 3:59 pm
So which flanger plugins are supposed to emulate the Reticon SAD1024 chip?

Maybe someone can talk to Jaromir about the VST he made for his paper?

ADA Flanger sounds super-lush. I also like the modulation effects in HOFA System 1; the chorus is very rich and I'd imagine the flanger would be worth checking out as well.
A well-behaved signature.
