There's already some great looking devices made by the beta community.Liero wrote: Tue Aug 24, 2021 8:57 amI really hope Propellerheads would for once go all out and do something really flexible and incredible with the Combinator udpate. Like a wide selection of faders, knobs, buttons, XY-pads that you can fully customize in any way you want onto a big panel you can design yourself...
Reason Combinator : What are the terminology in other major DAWs?

I love the idea of building a GUI (or better still someone else doing it
) for my hardware, Reason rack with 'real' hardware in!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I hope what takes off is people building GUI for VSTs, so that you can access them directly from the Rack rather than having to open the VST window.SLiC wrote: Tue Aug 24, 2021 10:58 am I love the idea of building a GUI (or better still someone else doing it) for my hardware, Reason rack with 'real' hardware in!
Obviously this won't work well for more complex plugins, but the more straightforward ones should be quite easy to do I think. And it won't be useful for Rack Plugin users, as it can't host VSTs (at least for now).

Well, FL Studio has had that capability for ages and the selection among the community is dubious at best.. at least this has been my experience with it.

Yes, that's something I fear the most. Along with wasting too much time trying to create something horrific myselfbmanic wrote: Tue Aug 24, 2021 2:01 pm Well, FL Studio has had that capability for ages and the selection among the community is dubious at best.. at least this has been my experience with it.

The DAW companies are skilled in developing ways for their users to spend more time not making music.antic604 wrote: Tue Aug 24, 2021 5:13 pmYes, that's something I fear the most. The closest thing (AFAIK) in Logic is user presets. I use them all the time for multi-output instruments that are already routed (I/O), with effects, track and heading colors and icons, etc. It gets me a quick starting point, especially for drum instruments. Probably still not as flexible as Combinator, but I'm not sure if Logic has something more equivalent (I've never tried, tbh).

Logic doesn't have the exact functionality as a combinator. In Logic you use presets like you said and you customize the Smart Controls page to do what you want. Logic tries to setup the Smart Controls for you and sometimes it does an okay job at it but most of the time it just kind of falls flat on its face. No to mention that most of the Smart Control pages are kind of ugly to look at.
