why is there always one of you in any generative midi threads? No one cares that you don't need any tools to help inspire you to create music, so just keep your whinging to yourself. Thanks!jonljacobi wrote: Sat Oct 09, 2021 8:10 pm My thoughts? If you're pressing a button to generate music, you're kind of missing the point.

I started writing a long winded post, but decided to keep it brief. I think IC is algorithmic rather than machine learning based. That does NOT mean it is using MIDI fragments- just sets of rules and probabilities. AI is being used as a marketing buzzword, and not just by IC. Algorithmic generation is NOT a bad thing at all, BTW. Rapid Composer is amazingly complex, but I don't think Attila would ever use the "AI" tag unless he actually implemented it.

Ahh ... the suddenly pure who had previously invested in drum machines, loop libraries, sampling, synthesis and electric guitars with those new fangled amplifiers and effect pedals, not to mention DAWs are now suddently born again musical purists and wish to draw a line at generative machines. You aren't putting that genie back in the bottle no matter how you feel about it. The new kids will embrace it and take it some place else. T'was ever thus. You'd think this would be self-evident.jonljacobi wrote: Sat Oct 09, 2021 8:10 pm My thoughts? If you're pressing a button to generate music, you're kind of missing the point.

Let's go back to the original thread where talk about IC is more productive.
