There was a superbooth video where MFM2 seemed quite advanced.

Here it is

Yes, sorry, typo, I meant 2022 early summer for Uhbik2.

If someone had asked me exactly 1 year ago I'd have said that Uhbik was for this past summer.

I was asking about the upgrade policy for Zebra3 a while ago just to make sure I could fall within the grace period for upgrades (similar to Hive), and this was the response I got. Of course I ended up buying it anyway ;)

"It won't happen this year, for certain. And it's not yet sure if we can get it ready for
release in 2022 either, although we really hope so."

it used to be that if you bought zebra + the dark zebra you got zebra 3 for free whenever it comes out. not sure if that's still a thing though.

it's still the case, see Urs remark in this thread:

Same, but Urs knows his business so I trust him.

There must be a reason why U-He has been giving priority to other stuff. Maybe they were waiting for a new GUI framework, or some DSP code wasn't ready for Zebra 3, who knows. Maybe the improvements from Ubhik 2 will make into Zebra 3.
Basically every question in this thread is answered just by combing through Urs post history. It would be cool to have a tool that makes an automatic FAQ based on what knowledge keepers say about certain things such as this case, since this discussion invites a lot of redundancy.

Lots of the "priority to other stuff" is ensuring that the entire product lineup continues to be compatible on modern operating systems (cough Macs cough) which I imagine continues to constitute a large user base for u-he. The majority of the other work has been on products that have been contributing to the codebase of Z3 in some way or another and has just unfortunately been taking longer than originally planned because plans are made, omnipotence laughs etc.

Latter, and an enormous impact of the pandemic. When people leave, one can’t just replace them. Typing in chat apps takes up everyone’s air when a quick chat would’ve been enough, were people in the same room. And I can’t even begin with the psychological stuff.

The past two years went by in slow motion. We have e.g. half a dozen soundsets which are “ready to go, pretty much”, but the “pretty much “ is an unqualifiable power that seems to hold us hostage.

I hope this ends some day.

It's rough. Hang in there and consider these questions a compliment! :)

Do your chat apps allow video/audio conferences? If so I would start using it more, asynchronous communication as a default can indeed be a big source of frustration.

Stay strong!

Sorry Urs.

It's hard to run a company by itself but I can't imagine what you've been going through these past two years. Specially now that Germany is going through difficult times, again.

Hope things will get better!

I do worry with Omicron and future variants, that Covid is already endemic and is something we have to adapt to and learn to live with. The science is looking like there's not going to be an end-date on this. So either we vaccinate and accept more risk in workplaces, or get better at remote work where possible, or deal with slow motion, but sadly, it doesn't seem like this is going away.

If there's something that I really enjoy and appreciate about u-he, it's how human they are. Whenever this question pops up, there isn't some sort of pre-written redundant response that feels like it was made by robots or the marketing department. There's a very authentic response that makes it clear that the fact Zebra3 isn't a thing yet isn't fun for them and it's even exhausting. I have no question that the people who most want to see Zebra3 are u-he themselves.

Urs has made so many posts in the past essentially detailing the long history of Zebra3 and the company and why priorities had to be given to other products or why certain decisions were made (e.g operating systems upgrades, training new staff, having to release other products which then requires their own updates and maintenance, etc).

I hope the stars will align where there's the time, the staff, and ability to create this long-desired synth, not just because u-he fans have long been hoping for it, but u-he themselves have always wanted to make it.

Shiek 927, where's that "like"button when you need it? Using Facebook and YouTube for so many things, I often find myself looking for it in places like here too and would have clicked for your post above. Anway, you said what many of us think, I'm sure. Urs, and U-he for that matter as a collective, has always led a company for which I'll appropriate Nietzsche's book title in characterizing: Human All Too Human, which is why so many of us stick with the products, company, and also of import, the people.
