Did you actually try deleting it or moving it out of the Keyfiles folder?
Just renaming won't work as the contents is parsed to get the product ID etc.

Downloaded and installed with no problems.
Intel i7 sandyridge, 3.5Ghz / 16g ram
Windows 8.1

Okay, I realised my rename of the previous file may have been flawed, so I altered the suffix as well this time, because it occurred to me that W12 is probably reading all the .tracktionkey files.

Apologies for missing that.

I have then opened W12, where the message was "Waveform is in demo mode, click to start a 30 day free trial or unlock a license." and the licence showed as Locked. I clicked the message and now have W12PRO showing as UNLOCKED and the Keyfiles now shows a new W12PRO keyfile with this date: reated: 19 Aug 2022 11:15:22pm.

However! When I switched from Settings to an Edit, it objected and said it wasn't unlocked (unfortunately I didn't note the message before clicking to update, so I've closed W12 and will reopen it to see what happens.

On reopen:
Waveform PRO Licence: Unlocked.
Clicked on Edit and got no message about unlocking.
Checked for updates and got no messages about it being unlocked.

I think I need to do the bits following removing the key file again for you, so I'll do that and get back to you.

Yes, that caught me out to start with!

It now works, but I did notice a tiny thing.

I deleted the keyfile and opened W12.

I went to Settings and the Licensing.

I clicked the message at the top (it mentioned Demo Mode).

When I clicked on an Edit, there was a message about it needing to be unlocked. At this point it appears that Unlock as well as Continue in Demo Mode both result in the same thing, probably since nothing else needed to happen at this point.

But then I got another message saying it was in Demo Mode and asking if I wanted to unlock it...

I'm going to have a bit of a play and see if I can make that happen again...

Also look in C:\ProgramData\Tracktion and delete any keyfiles there

Ok, that's great. I think that's what was happening so we're working on a fix to update key files that are trials. That should avoid the problem completely.

Thanks for the quick responses helping us to track this down quickly.

I'll look in to the incorrect nag window. It might be that that was triggered before the license sync if the Edit was already open. We'll need to cancel that if that's the case.

That looks to be clear. I did try a DOS search on the W12 keyfile name earlier on in case it had got misplaced (and yes, in 2022 I still prefer DOS searches to Windows ones!)

Windows 10, migrated from 12.0.54 to 12.1.1 with no license issues. Everything was smooth.

I was going to mention that too, but then I tried putting the path into the location bar in a file explorer and it seems to automagically insert the Roaming folder into the path. Navigating yourself requires going into Roaming but %AppData% seems to be special.

There were two Edits already open, so yes to that.

just downloaded 12.1.3.

it fixes the license issue. mostly.

it still wanted to know if i wanted to unlock or run it in demo mode after telling me that a new license was installed.

something is still a little off, but at least i have a PRO license recognized again.
