One option that's probably both cheaper and less trouble is to simply get a decent, reasonably fast computer. Receptor is out of the question for any kind of modern workload. It comes with a Dual-Core AMD Athlon and 4 GB of RAM, so your phone probably has way more processing power than it.

Anything released in the last couple several years with 8+ cores should be able to handle everything you can throw at it in a live situation (well maybe not massive orchestral libraries with 150+ instances of Kontakt and 300 GB of sampled instruments, but you get the point).

If you have a modern computer and it struggles running VST's, the problem is most likely drivers, DPC latency or some other issue, rather than a lack of processing power.

If Muse is defunct, it would be great if they released their Linux distro to the open source community.

COOL! 2 questions. Is it free? And can I actually load my VST samples on that server? Seems that might be even faster since it would only need to make 1 trip from the server, no? TNX!

Who here has used AudioGridder with PreSonus Sphere? Does it play nice with all the Soundsets, and libraries in Sphere?

It's probably too far behind what's readily available, to be worth someones time to get it
modernized. They improved on what was available back then, but what are the people from the receptor team doing today? Have they contributed to wine-staging? Plugin-wrappers? Scripting the unity of jackd and pulseaudio? Utilizing cross-platform developement systems? Supporting Pipewire's future potential? They're likely still at work, money being what it is, but on what? Would be an interesting update on history to see the current projects.

Logic dictates that samples needed by a VST need to be on the same machine...

Is Muse Research Receptor (any model) Obsolete?
