LOL Frankenstein :hihi: :dog: this made me laugh out loud and quickly open up Z2 again to see what I missed. You know they are both instantly resizable with control-click, right? Except for the fact there are currently more free Z2 skins available (since it's been around longer presumably with more users) the GUIs are virtually identical, thanks to the very clever use of screen real estate fitting all those extras HZ features in among the tabs along the bottom

in regards skins, currently I'm very happy with the 'Original' skin on DZ HZ on the lightest gamma setting but for those who prefer theres a darker one called Vitality… I have several skin options for Z2, but had been mostly using 'Dot Eight' and 'Dark Eight' on Z2 one of which looks very much like if not identical to 'Original' on HZ. Ooh cool… there's a very bright Skin/Theme for Z2 called MASTER CONTROL with a bit of the roundness of OG Zebra 1 in here I didn't even know I had installed. Nice!

I have already made too many great new sounds with HZ just in the last week or since it dropped trying out all the new goodies and modulators to be tempted to use the older Z2. It's not just the added DIVA filters either, (it's probably bigger than the sum of the parts) — but who doesn't LOVE the new 'FEG' RES1 +RES2 - EQ thing that's available in the new FX chain, now? For whatever reason(s), Z3 clearly has got a fresh new sound to my ears but regardless it's pretty painless keeping them both installed (just in case for old projects).

Not my word, it's from the ZebraHZ manual:

"ZebraHZ is a bit of a Frankenstein’s monster"

That's about the sound, grafting together parts from other creations to make something new. Since Zebra modules are always out of the way until you choose to use them (by selecting from popup menus) considering how much more functionality we have now with HZ there's surprisingly barely any detectable change in user experience.

No, it's specifically about the GUI in a section called "Where are the panels?".

Thanks my friend! My apologies if you felt insulted by my laughing about the analogy, it was not my intention to hurt your feelings whatsoever and as it happens I'm almost as much of a huge fan of Frankenstein as I am of Dracula LOL …and just writing that down I think I vaguely recall reading the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia was fanatical about Frankenstein as a kid.
If you missed it, there's been a whole lot of unexpected responses here in this forum to what feels like a massive early christmas gift to me and likely a whole lot of us loyal users. I've been using Zebra from version OG, and yet I could barely notice any difference until I called up a DIVA filter and realized there was the subtle change with those tabs along the bottom. Again, aside from the scale and skin/theme mentioned I can barely tell them apart as far as GUI. In any case, it doesn't matter what anybody else prefers, obviously you can use whichever version you like and go at your own speed.

ZebraHZ was developed for HZ and HS for Batman Begins movie and probably they had no time to re-think the whole GUI. That means they had to make requested features fit the device interface.
Although its usability is harder if compared to Zebra Legacy, very juicy features were added.
Personally I only use ZebraHZ, probably because of the DIVA VCF and the two modulation sliders in the arpeggiator.
However...Zebra is my favorite VST
