I can't upgrade my Dell workstation from 2017 as it's on the Windows 11 naughty list.
But that's ok, Windows 10 runs like a charm on it and it's powerful and super stable compared to what I was running before, I have no desire to buy a new machine just yet.
We will see how difficult it will be for me to keep this system running in the coming years, I guess that disconnecting from the net entirely and freezing any software updates could be an extreme solution until I felt like buying a new machine but only if Microsoft makes things really difficult for Windows 10 users going forwards.

It will take at least 2 or 3 years until software developers will stop supporting Windows 10 (probably longer), so, you'll surely be good for the next 4 or 5 years, even without disconnecting it and freezing any software updates.

this. Plus most software is still running fine even on Windows 7.
It just means that developers won’t test their software on an “unsupported“ OS and thus won’t guarantee you that it is still going to work flawlessly.
Windows itself though is usually pretty upwards and downwards compatible for quite some time, often spanning multiple versions in both directions

The new Win11 "dress" sucks. I installed it on a laptop, not the daw. I wish i hadnt. It is not possible to ungroup open programs/windows in taskbar......... MS removed this function as well as the ugly rounded edges on windows where the mouse over isnt matched with what you see on the screen. Invisible areas... feels unprofessional.

Some of these things Caused a stir among pro users so MS say they might reintroduce ungrouping of open programs again sometime. What a joke.
Also they just add layers on top of winxp/win7 tech. So not evrything works until you do things the old way via Control Panel... right click on windows does other things than in win10, so you have to click twice to enter Properties for Windows etc

Win11 is like Win ME and Win8...

There are no improvements as a heavy daily user. Only worsen things, workflow wise.

Also, they removed/moved Copy, Paste etc and made graphical icons they force you to move your mouse in both x and y position to reach something simple as that... small annoying things all over the gui, but no real showstopper as far as compability afai have noticed.

And, yes, that's bad, just like the icons they implemented for copy, paste, cut etc., instead of a menu with the words "copy", "paste" etc. Even after a year, I haven't gotten used to the pictures.

There's definitely some things that are worse than in Windows 10, but, there are also things which are better, like the more unified settings, the slimmed down taskbar menu (fortunately, they added an entry for the task manager now), or the settings in the task area. The explorer is better and more consistent now as well.

You know, I feel like Windows users are a bit "inconstant". "Windows XP good, Windows Vista bad, Windows 7 good, Windows 8 bad" etc. Yes, they all have pros and cons, but, I often miss the mentality of coping with what you have. Windows 11 is definitely not as bad as some people make it. It's often just their unwill to accomodate.

Using Windows 11 since it was out. There are no technical issue here.
Already upgraded all Windows 10 to 11 (if its hardware allows)!
All applications and drivers (which works with Windows 10) are working well in Windows 11.

I don't like some UI changes but that's all for me.

Where he always is. I've only bought new laptops with Win11 preinstalled, I've never actually done an upgrade. So most of what I'd have to say has been well covered already.

It got even better yesterday - I got more than $3000 worth of refunds in a single day! Gotta love that! That would just about pay for airfares to get to Infest! In Bradford! I don't like our chances of getting on the bill but they haven't said "no" yet, so you never know...

It's amazing how time flies because my new "happy ending" laptop is the third one I've bought with Win11 preinstalled. Hopefully that means Win11 has been around for a couple of years now, or else my laptop spending is totally outta control.

This looks really good. My PC is running Win10 and it ain't broke, so I'm not fixing it, but when I eventually have to move over to 11, this utility will make life less painful, as I can't stand the new start menu in 11!

There's also a registry edit that makes right click default to how it was in Win 10 that I changed to after making the upgrade last night
