Nobody could've predicted COVID. What that did is shift all the work from offices and labs to home. Under German work protection law, working with high voltage equipment is forbidden in your own home (for obvious reasons). Hence no new amps could have been taken apart and measured to even set up a blueprint for neural network to do its thing. So there you have it. The intention definitely was there, but unfortunately it couldn't come to fruition as originally planned.elxsound wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 5:32 pmIt’s not entitlement if the developer set the expectation and didn’t deliver.

Setting expectations is part of building the end user experience.
As a user, there’s no way to see intent.
EDIT: I also don’t see that as an excuse in any possible way. Years have passed by where people have needed to find new ways to perform regular tasks. I work with medical professionals who still found ways to perform their work with minimizing risk to keep things running through the absolute worst of times.
And now I’m reading NI couldn’t figure out how to have someone occasionally come in to work on modeling since they couldn’t do it from home?
Yeah, no sympathy from me at all. If you only knew how bad things were because people needed care in this overpopulated place.
Not buying it

If it's a neural network, isn't this similar to profiling tech? I mean, I'm not taking apart tube amps to create profiles of them at home, and surely tube amplifiers are allowed in homes under German law?EvilDragon wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 8:13 pmNobody could've predicted COVID. All GR7 seems to be is 4 low fi effects, 4 more amp sims, a looper and some new presets. All of which feels like it could have just been the stuff they promised for GR6. They did add a couple of amps to GR6, so it's not like they did nothing, but you can't promise bounty, have some issues and then make people pay €99 for it instead. Especially when Amplitube 5 Max is €99 right now. And you can even get 20 models with Tonex CS for free. (EDIT - or 200 models for €59 - https://www.ikmultimedia.com/news/?item_id=14897)
I really like Guitar Rig, easily the best out there for ambient and effecty stuff. But this feels kinda desperate. Will happily stick with GR6 for now.

For the record, here’s what a NI employee said in 2021:
Emphasis by me. They ended up releasing a total of one amp and one pedal.Hey everyone,
the promise still stands. And we would have wished to deliver earlier on it. So, apologies for the delay and radio silence. There are several reasons for the delay that have cumulated over time. For instance: Earlier this year it had been Covid lockdown regulations slowing down hardware measurements. Currently it is rather technical work needed for compatibility updates (e.g.Apple M1). The next release will be a compatibility release. The one after that will include new ICM components (amps & pedals). And that update will of course be free to all Guitar Rig 6 Pro users.
thank you for your patience

No, it's not the same as profiling. Amp needs to be measured at critical points then the neural network does the circuit model.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 8:32 pm If it's a neural network, isn't this similar to profiling tech? And sure you can of course have a tube amp in your home. But you cannot do actual work on it for a company that has a lab which has all the safeties for working with high voltage gear etc. You can obviously at your own risk, but that wasn't the risk NI wanted to take for their engineers.

Yeah, I was hiding under an AxeFX shaped rock, but I still saw that they included 5 ICM models with version 6. Four amps and a fuzz box. They did provide additional models. Did you expect they'd just be providing free models forever for nothing? As it is, the number of options in v6 is already a lot.vertibration wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 5:20 pmU hiding under a rock? I get that there have been problems with covid and Ukraine war, but I don't think it's an excuse to short change existing customers. It's a loss of trust for me.
Not happy? Move on, or don't upgrade. I'm not going to, until maybe there's a sale. I'm pretty sure there's nothing remotely as flexible as Guitar Rig, though, except maybe MGuitarArchitect, which sounds like crap to me.

Okay 4k mores posts than me…. It’s a forum… people gonna do what they do on a forum. They’re gonna discuss things until they feel like moving on. It just gets to a point where you've made your opinion clear, which ultimately isn't really different from mine, because I will also not be upgrading, and just going over and over it isn't going to fix anything.elxsound wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 9:16 pmOkay 4k mores posts than me…. Thank you for explaining things. I think in the gran scheme of things during the time period between Gtr Rig Pro 6 and 7 there have been wayyyyy too many changes that NI didn’t account for. Covid, issues with developers, being bought out again by another company, fusing another company’s products with your main seller (Komplete) and that’s not to mention what was actually happening to all the people with NI personally.
Did they promise new things for the then current model? Yes.
Has their business been smooth sailing? No
We all know the problems that mergers cause internally in companies. I guess Im just content that they are atleast making things better and still updating versus letting it go like their previous products.

For what it is worth, I too am not happy that this is not part of GR 6 instead of GR 7, even though.....
I quite really like two of the new amps.. the Fender (Reverb Delight) and the ac box xv which I assume is a vox ac30, even more than I like my tonex versions of those.. (and I love Tonex)...
Hopefully they will make lots more additions in this GR7 cycle.
