That's very true! :)
Mind you it will be 30 bucks in about 6 months as well.
On the other hand for $25 anytime you can get StandardClip

I never have to wait for PA's prices to go down. I pay $99 + local taxes a year (early adopter) for their 'L' subscription, which gives me access to 165 plugins and a coupon to buy any three of them every year, no restrictions. That's the game they are playing.

And if we talk about this specific plugin, I'm not paying $149 for a clipper, I'm paying $0.6 a year for it.
They sold you one their sub, congratulations, that is $99 more than I will pay them very likely.

I have probably 70 or so PA plugins from over the years, that I barely even use at all these days, beyond those of a couple devs I like. Hopefully you are getting your money's worth out of all that and actually using them. Hopefully they don't do anything in the future to make you regret supporting them.

Finally, hopefully, PA's are not the only plugins you have access to...

Ok, so they are making this more expensive than it is (on release day). I agree, I will pay around $19 for it in a few months.

My question is (without being able to try it myself for quite some time) - how does it sound when compared to other clippers like from Kazrog, and what is the delay introduced in a signal path?

I carefully tested this plugin today... And I liked the result!
Also the M/S mode is very interesting in this clipper.
Oversampling in x32 mode works beautifully and does not kill the CPU.

So you pay $33 per plugin. That's only about $8 more than I usually pay for their plugins on sale, so you aren't getting ripped off that much at least.

What happens with your $0.6/year Clipper the moment you stop paying the $99/year ransom?
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

Unfortunately no, I have thousands of plugins (like you, I guess). I should have focused on a couple of brands a long time ago. PA and Arturia would have been a good choice, for example.

I don't plan to stop paying my subscription. If I cannot afford $99 a year I'm in serious trouble, way more serious than having to choose a new clipper but ... ok, I would use the Newfangled Audio one, I guess. Who cares about clippers? :hihi:

Yes I was a plugin super consumer, then a HW super consumer, these days im a miserly consumer. For me its the opposite tho, i have much that i prefer over the bulk of the PA stuff.

If only MSaturator didn't do all that for free

The thing is that I'm not subscribed to use the old stuff, as I already own the old plugins that I like. I subscribed because I really like the ones they are releasing lately: Soma, Amek Mastering Compressor, 69 Series, The Oven, Silver Bullet, Natalus Desceq, Xtressor, Kirchhoff-EQ ...

I would need to wait a lot to buy them cheap.

Nice and all, but no oversampling options and the pricing is a joke, we all now that it is going for 29$ or less at some point!

A clipper without oversampling at least to 4x (if working at 44k) is not very useful. I didnt check if it's oversampling support but if none, thats a big miss.

Although, it could be run in a metaplugin or using a DAW feature to run it at a higher rate I suppose...
