Dunno. Is it confirmed that they will drop VST2 support also on Windows with Cubase 13?noiseboyuk wrote: Tue Sep 12, 2023 8:59 pm I think the big problem with 13 will be dropped VST2 support. Could well break a lot of old project compatibility, apart from anything else.
Where is Cubase 12.5 or 13? [Update: It's here C13 is released!]

Jan. 19, 2022 - official statement:
https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-u ... scontinued
:....Moreover, within the next 24 months, Steinberg's host applications and plug-ins across macOS and Windows will offer VST 3 compatibility only...."
I've got three vst2 left. everything else is vst3. The one I'm most nervous about is impOSCar2 which is due to be updated. I hope they hurry up.

Its kinda like subscription now with paid upgrades every year.chk071 wrote: Tue Sep 12, 2023 9:06 pmCompany reps said not long ago that they won't go subscription in the foreseeable future. And, I don't see anything in that announcement indicating subscription either. On the German website it says "Anmelden", which means sign up. They probably simply mean their newsletter.

Why, have you got $100 burning a hole in your pocket? The longer between updates, the happier I am.VitaminD wrote: Tue Sep 12, 2023 6:20 pm Cubase 12 was released March 2, 2022. That's a year and a half ago. It seems Steinberg has broken from their half version annual cadence, and it makes me wonder if anyone here knows when the next release is scheduled?

I've been on the lookout for half a year and haven't found anything.
Here's what I hope for:
1. Folders as busses, like in many DAWs.
2. The elimination of QLink. Or at least the ability to have it's setting save with the project or some other way to permanently set it on.
3. Range select in the piano roll, like in Ableton.
4. Maybe a better way to view channel plugins.
5. Easier way to setup automation lanes. Like click vst param to create lane like in Ableton.
I am however prepared for disappointment.

It's been a long road since VST 3.7, but Cubase 12 has all i need.
It's been stable for me also. No dongle, it's great.
I need VST2 support too, so v12 is where i get off the bus.

ImpOSCar is the only VST2 plugin I have that would really rip my knickers if it wouldn't work in Cubase. I suspect I'll leave Cubase 13 unless there's something earth shattering in it. I only upgraded probably on average every 5 years previously.
From vague memory, the only ones I ever bought were Cubase 1--3--VST3.5--SX2--10.5--12 which goes back longer than I care to remember. I might have got Cubase 5, can't remember.
It's rare that any version has something really big that I want. VST3.5 was the biggie, then 12. All the others have been incremental meh. On that schedule, I'll be due to buy a new Cubase at about 16 or 17.

Has it been 24 months already since the announcement? (yes I know it said within 24 months not at the 24 months mark, or something like that)sqigls wrote: Wed Sep 13, 2023 12:59 am ....

in reality there's only a handful left i use that aren't VST3 yet, but I really love them... My NUSofting stuff, Xils LeMasque, the SPC stuff, The Drop should be done soon... the Kush stuff is almost done and out of beta hopefully, i think that's it?

Maybe they'll add a new instrument this time. They removed a few old ones last time. Wavetable perhaps
They keep adding effects which are popular and exist with other brands.
Logic clip distortion - distroyer
Cableguys shaperbox - fx modulator
Ott - squasher
Pro q - frequency
I'm sure there are others..
Maybe this time it'll be some kind of spectral processor?
I'm happy with 12 and use it every day. But can't usually hold out long after a new update
