Space, RAM and core count over everything.

Also, Apple Silicon over Intel any day of the week. Would recommend doing a refurbished M1 if you're budget-tight. I have friends in the CPU HW industry and Apple can closely control their silicon development to tune to their liking (compared to having to use Intel's processors)

I went with a refurbished basic 14" m2 macbook pro.

Also found a m1 max one, but skipped it in a second after reading the m max gpu chip heat
