yup, thanks ! I worked on it.
I have now a very satisfieing "overdrive" sound -which was finally not exactly my goal- . I like the Kuassa Wah for this ! .....and i start to understand the Wah vs. Drive thing. I´m entirely new on this.
Thats great to hear !Niowiad wrote: Mon Jan 01, 2024 6:26 pm I got the Kuassa wah on launch... still very much satisfied with it.
I've had a couple hardware wahs in the past, now I'm perfectly fine with Kuassa's.
i found now also my way into it. At least with an overdriving amp sim.
A cleaner sound will be then another chapter.
my patch is now way more refined and sounds way better !
quite happy for the start.
Thanks for baby sitting everybody !
The baby is now allready a boy, haha ( as seen in StarTrek NG with Troys son
I have that free Nembrini Wah. Had no clue. I´ll give it a try. Thanks !

It's just as hard finding the right hardware wah-wah IMO. I had a 90's Vox 847, and that thing sucked tone when it wasn't in use, but otherwise sounded great. Had the perfect sweep. Didn't go too low, didn't go too high. Tried lots of Crybaby's at that time and didn't like any of those. Ended up giving that 847 away to a cousin when I thought I wasn't going to ever use pedals again.
A few years ago, I bought a modern 847 and hated it. Then I bought a Keeley modded handwired 846 and only just disliked it. I went in and adjusted the sweep range a bit, and disliked it a little less. But damn...it's hard finding a wah. Software or hardware.

There's also the HoRNet WahWah which you can buy for 84¢ right now.
https://www.hornetplugins.com/plugins/hornet-wahwah
I tried it out a while ago and it sounded pretty good, but the response wasn’t smooth enough. Fast pedal movements sounded quantized.
HoRNet responded to me about it on the forum and said you need a sufficiently low buffer setting (128 samples or lower) for smooth operation.

That’s just a matter of finding cleaner settings in your amp emulation, or picking a different one that specializes in clean tones. The wah effect shouldn’t be driving your amp plugin’s input into distortion, though I suppose it could, even though those types of filters are entirely passive. If it is happening, this could be fixed by lowering the amp plugin’s input volume.Funky40 wrote: Mon Jan 01, 2024 8:49 pmi found now also my way into it. At least with an overdriving amp sim.

yup, next to comezerocrossing wrote: Mon Jan 01, 2024 9:37 pm ......or picking a different one that specializes in clean tones.
i have alots of PA amps. But that was bevore the M1macs came, when i used to play with those.
Need to check all of them freshly. (well, i used them on Bass anyway)
yeah, but with the reso up, and especially the BP filtered tone it hits a amp differently, i suppose.zerocrossing wrote: Mon Jan 01, 2024 9:37 pm The wah effect shouldn’t be driving your amp plugin’s input into distortion,
So, thats where my learning can start now.
I had great fun playing. So, i finally managed to get back my fun with guitar playing.
This was even not the goal. The goal was just to jam some funky samples down.
"Just for playing", i really like that overdriven Tone with a Wah. Even when the Wah pedal is unused.
i start my fresh guitar journey here. That´s great !

i try to avoid Waves. But might pick up a few sometimes on a next sale, when my old one-two ones i finally use are outdated.
I have Fabfilter Volcano3. I also want to see to where i can take it with that one.
Since i have now somehow some feel for that matter.

Verify if your hardware MIDI controller pedal features a potentiometer range control. I utilize the M-Audio EX-P, and my usual practice is to set the hardware range to a specific position, "precisely" corresponding to 12 o'clock, when using the Kuassa wah pedal. Then the range would be more close to the real Cry Baby. That being said, peolpe frequently "mod" their Cry Baby pedals by opening the enclosure and adjusting the internal gear of the potentiometer a few notches to achieve a different sweep level.

i patch my patches within GigPerformer (GP), a dedicated plugin host. I do not use a DAW for realtime-play uses..dimitar wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 2:07 am Verify if your hardware MIDI controller pedal features a potentiometer range control. Within GP can i not only set a min and max level. I can also draw the curvature freely !
Which makes for *many* things a big difference.
i gave this allready some setup time, and things became way better.
But i need to get to know the Kuassa Wah,...or whatever i use, .....better.
I need now more experience, and also need to find my play style.
In fact, i need to freshly learn to play the guitar.
.......the start has been made !
The "rest" is to step up slowly from where i am now.

Do you patch Wahs with it ?
it´s planned to use this type of tools to setup some experiments.
I have UVI shade ! also Volcano 3.
That´s now definitly on the to do list to dive into this sort of patchings. DIY Wah creation.
But one thing after the other.
I´ll live with the Kuassa Wah for now. It will help me to get a feel for that sound.

MetaFilter is a total desert island plugin for me. I keep saying that for years in numerous threads (best delay, filter, yadda yadda) yet no-one seems to ever take heed, for whatever reason.
This thing is so flexible and versatile and so great and so easy to use with such a big and easy to find sweet-spot. (Most dedicated wah wah and generic filter plugins I tried for me just tend to somehow don't really manage to nail it - hard to put into words, but they often just don't really seem to be riding the wave in the proper spot.)

I've tested Mercuriall Audio Ampbox which has a Dunlop Crybaby 535Q emulation. It's quite configurable, and the sweep curve can be adjusted to suite the expression pedal used. Compared to the Kuassa one, I think the Kuassa is a bit better out of the box (and has an envelope follower), but the sweep curve cannot be adjusted, and the Mercuriall can be set up to sound similar. It also has other pedals included that can be used as a pedal board for free without buying an amp.

Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here.
