I don't see any reason you couldn't use multiple engines in AAS Player, but note the rule about commercial patches not being permitted. I think that would limit you to only what is available in Swatches.AAS Player is another case.
You might have to choose your own limits here. Focusing on a single ensemble seems most in the spirit of OSC, but I'm sure you could bolt multiple ensembles into a custom multi-engine ensemble if you were motivated to do so. This makes me think back to rounds with VCV Rack, where some participants chose to limit themselves to a specific module or brand of modules for sound design. You could do the same kind of thing with any multi-engine synth if it feels good to you to do so.I assume that Reaktor is not a synth, but if it could be considered as such, then wow!
