Best free 303 synth

Yes I can get close to the acid sounds with my synths but wanted the specific 303 sound. The softube sh101 is great and compliments the 303 sound really well but that has its own acid character.

Tal Bassline. It is sort of an SH-101 model, but tbh this bakes in the 303 sound to a large degree mainly due to the -18dB LPF.

The freeware Dolphin by Signaldust is also a very interesting clone. The saw is great the square not so much but drive the saw through a distortion plugin and you can get some very nice 303ish tones.

Sadly the plugin is not available through the official developer as the site is not working but search around some familiar vst databases (like plugins4free and the likes) and you will find it. Worth a try imho and there is a 64bit version available which makes it a plus.

PS: I have a TD-3 also, for the money you can't go wrong with this. It's pretty close and has a build in distortion unit expanding the tone range.

The jc303 is based on Robin schmidt dsp but it misses a few things .
Get the robin schmidt one instead , they are all included in one plugin called toolchain

How do you get this 303 aciddevil to run inside your DAW? I can't find the answer anywhere. I can't get it to play in Reaper nor MPC Beats. It loaded ok, but there's no play button.

edit: there's also no sync to host tempo or anything like that. Not sure why this can't be a normal vst or something.

Choose aciddevil from the dopdown
Send midi to the effectplugin ( if your daw allows )
I don't use it's internal sequencer since it can't sync to host , instead I use abl3 or loomer architect to spit out midi notes .
Abl3 is imho still the best emu out there , but aciddevil has a nice character to bring some variety

Thanks for the answer. It does sound nice judging from the Youtube videos the developer posted.

This definitely seems to be the case of you get what you paid for though, lol. I've been using the free Venom VB-303 in Reaper, but the GUI is ridiculously small, so to get a decent 303 plugin with built-in sequencer, I'm just going to have to look into buying one then.
