There's no reason not to try Supermassive and Solaris. They're both free and both excellent.
Blackhole Immersive, also mentioned earlier, is one of the best paid ones for this kind of reverb. But any algorithmic reverb with 10 second or more tails (I just picked a number) and be explored. Put some pitch shifting and other fx before it and enjoy.

Supermassive is great and quite a deal at free.
I, too was an effects monger (early 80s-90s) and i got a
lot of attention (not all positive) as i played bass guitar. Didn't have a mentor but was influenced by Phil Lesh, Chris Squire, and Bootsy Collins.
"Too many effects?"
"What do you mean?"
I did a lot of modding and custom building of fx.
Chilled out a bit after i started synthesizing, mid to late 80s.
i would never call Eventide a shit-arse company. They were pioneers of digital delay based effects. Agree on the copy protection.kritikon wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 5:15 am Black Hole and Supermassive immediately spring to my mind for quality.
Black Hole is iLok, Supermassive is both free and free of shit-arse copy protection by a shit-arse company. If you want an unbiased opinion![]()

I used it for KVR and I’m using Morphex Audio for my sound design business as well. Lots of fun memories!!

@ paramita123 & @ CrystalWizard thanks for the kind words mates, I really appreciate it. I wasn’t trying to be overly sentimental, but we all have our own “origin story” and I’ve been very fortunate to know some amazing human beings that helped me to find my way in life.
I’m 50 years old now, and I have a completely different outlook that’s been shaped by all kinds of experiences, both good and not so good. But haven’t we all? CrystalWizard, you definitely listed some cool cats to get inspiration from. Bootsy Collins is quite a character!
I’m passing along some of the knowledge and passion that I have for music and sound design in the hopes that it inspires people to live more fulfilling lives now, instead of waiting until the right circumstances come along... because that could take forever, and we don’t have that kind of time.
Now, back to the reverbs and our regularly scheduled program in progress. Cheers!

Stone Voices DReverb also sounds good with a long tail, great for ambient.El°HYM wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 12:52 pm The undisputed king of the ethereal pad.

I can only speak for the original Blackhole (I don’t own Immersive), but that was my first thought as well. Also agree with Supermassive and Shimmer (depending on your interpretation of “celestial”, since they are pretty different plugins). Without trying to make this another name-every-reverb-plugin-on-the-market thread, I’d also add Native Instruments Raum, which I think fits in with the Blackhole/Supermassive style of reverbs.martiu wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 9:34 pm Eventide Blackhole Immersive, the smoothest most beautiful sounding reverb ever, regular Blackhole second place

Mike Gordon (Phish) uses lots of ambient effects for certain bass parts. His rig run down isCrystalWizard wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 2:42 am Supermassive is great and quite a deal at free.

Yeah, Gordon is a big fan of those three, esp Lesh.
friend hung out with Phil for a whole day and got an in depth look at his rig. He said it was "NASA level tech." Three macbook pros doing real time analysis of the room.
Love the term "celestial reverb."

There are tons (as listed already here). The free airwindows consolidated plug-in has some very "spacey" reverbs. Worth grabbing for various things.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.
