I will stay on Win10 until October. Then I will have a look at how bad Win11 is at that time in the future. Based on that I will spend $30 or upgrade to Win11. I only game on Windows so I don't expect technical problems either way.

What is the problem exactly? Just continue to use it. It wouod be wise to disconnect it from the internet as vulnerabilities won’t be patched but you wouod be pretty secure anyway if you don’t download malware and sit behind a good web gateway/fw. Some vpn providers can also provide web filtering p, or you can get a third party anti malware software that would effectively soft patch any vulnerabilities.

That's not the case. The best it could do is remove bad software after it installed, but by that time a useful payload might have been extracted.

Had no problem with Win11 on my old desktop (i7-4770) I use for odds and sods and sometimes record audio on (during the interminable waits for pizza to cook).

Used the 'Rufus' method (e.g. https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/byp ... equirement) to upgrade it in-place originally from Win10, and have done the same since for the 'feature' upgrades;

Figured that for what I use that PC for, power wise it'll be fine for years yet, so I'll continue on this path until something irrevocably breaks.. :scared:

This might be exactly what I will do, and disconnect it eventually and freeze my system entirely. Hey it would cure that GAS problem lots of us suffer from. If it works it works. Do I really need any more upgrades to get results? Nope, not at all to be honest. I can always dual boot to Linux for other things.
