Which can be downloaded completely legally from the offcicial source.
how? I can't see a link for firmware and signing up seems to require I provide a serial number. I don't own the hardware
Just click on "I don't own any Access-hardware" (or something along these lines).
Do you have a link? I can't find that

Thanks for clairfying. That's not going to be an option then. Shame, would have liked to try out this vst.

Things like DA converters can play a role in the actual sound. Even in hardware synths from the same company that can share sysex patches. For instance, to my ears, A Yamaha DX21 sounds a bit smoother than a TX81Z which, (again to my ears), sounds a bit more raw and gritty. I prefer the TX81Z for that reason. I also find the same holds true for VSTi's like FM8 DiscoDSP phantom which can import those same 4op FM sysex patches. And it's why I still own a TX81Z.

But hey, that's just me......YMMV. :D
That was true for 1980s Synths that used bespoke DACs and low bit depth and sample rates like the TX81Z, but once we hit the late 1990s they used off the shelf DACs and 16 Bit 44.k or better converters they got from the HiFi Stereo/CD/DVD market and they were very clean and transparent

You never hear anyone say anything about the DAC in the Panasonic DVD player sounding any different than the one in the Sony DVD player

The Access Virus line used all off the shelf components right down the to the Motorola CPU

It's literally just a computer running code that outputs digital audio that then gets converted by a clean and transparent DAC

It's because of this fact that the emulators work just by running the firmware and a GUI that emulates the control surface of the hardware

Samplers from the era used different data compression schemes which can have an impact on sound but if you were to run their firmware in an emulator you would also be running that data compression scheme

Do you know why Ostirus is still there ?
Dev never shared any information, link or tips to get the firmware.
Please respect their principle and remove the link.

So far as i remember the dev has never tried to get these emulators stopped or asked people not to use them. Hes had 4 years to complain if he was going to.Also he has apparently moved onto other things and no virus's are in production any more so these emulators aren't taking away any sales or cash from the dev.
Mac mini m4 pro, Reaper, too many plugins, Modal Argon8, Novation Circuit Mono Station and now a lovely Waldorf Blofeld.

It's on Archive.org, I didn't upload it. It's not my link and if Access doesn't want it there, they can have it removed. These emulators have been out for four years and they have done nothing which makes it obvious to everyone they don't care

The firmware in question is from hardware that has been abandoned, is no longer for sale, and obviously has no interest in maintaining them

It's 2025 when you make make multiple emulators that need firmware and that firmware is widely available on the internet than there is no question that the developer of the emulator doesn't care what people do

Post

I'm convinced people go to DSP56k threads solely to clutch their pearls at firmware "piracy" and ensure that we're all aware of their moral superiority.

No one cares if you don't want to use the emulations.

Maybe when they run out of analog things to copy.

Post

I’m not sure how successful that would be, tbh. Unlike the increasingly hard to find vintage synths that Behringer is emulating, it’s not like there’s a shortage of secondhand Viruses on the market for decent prices. Although I suppose if it was priced low enough, people would probably buy a Birus.

Are you saying you don't have that option when attempting to register on their website?

As it is something you have to choose during the registration process there is obviously no link.

But when the website asked you for a hardware-serial, you've already been there - it's right there.
