With that logic every piece of software is perfect because you can learn it. You realize UI/UX design is a thing right? Just because you can get used to it doesn't mean it's not messy and can/should be improved.

Out of curiosity, what reference synth with an equal feature set would you take for Zebralette 3 or Zebra 3 where the design is "not messy"?coroknight wrote: Sat Dec 13, 2025 3:09 pm With that logic every piece of software is perfect because you can learn it. I'd actually look to other editors for inspiration, like photo/video editing and 3d graphics software. Arguably they've had to tame even more complex toolsets.Urs wrote: Sat Dec 13, 2025 5:19 pmOut of curiosity, what reference synth with an equal feature set would you take for Zebralette 3 or Zebra 3 where the design is "not messy"?coroknight wrote: Sat Dec 13, 2025 3:09 pm With that logic every piece of software is perfect because you can learn it. Just to make things more concrete I threw together a quick mockup of how I'd approach the design. It's hacked together in a few minutes, and as I type this there are probably adjustments I'd make, but it seemed better than vaguely talking about problems.
Mainly it boils down to:
1. Communicating that guide curves are not just individual curves but something that can be interpolated between. Hence the timeline at the top.
2. Separating tools from options/settings. Gives each section a more specific purpose which makes it easier to understand intuitively.
3. Speaking of which, make global settings and editor mode (edit, morph) more distinct sections. Right now they blend together with tools.
