Think vurt is right here, Ian. Besides of the crack-users which can't be ignored really I think nearly all of us here at KVR started with good freeware and shareware like yours, smartelectronix-donations etc. I'd like to add arcane devs, those first sound-mangling -destryoing tools I had, and many more. My first VSTi that took me to get that strange look into my eyes while downloading with arrrrrrrghhhh-speed more and more fine freebies was called AURA, another batsound or so, a mellotron-vsti of 2002 or so. Then KrakliWebster, Land of Cockaigne and Crystal and Istvan Kaldors thingies, all quite as good as some challenge-response-protected killmyPCware (well it's my opinion, I can't help repeating :hihi: ). Simply great, and got me to buy many things after that. I find it great that some of the freebie-developers offer at least one effect or synth that is not free, because for 15-25 Euro or Dollar it's simply a chance for people like us to play with all those lovely sounds and give a tiny little bit in return.

Nice thread.

Make it four cheers!

Hip Hop Hurray!

Ian must be getting tired of me singing his fames.

My 2 favourite freeware devs are Ian Webster and Peter-jan of drumatic fame. Another great gift to mankind is that Multilens from Sinus.

Everybody go to their websites and click on the paypal button. They earned it.

big up to all the devs and anyone spreading some positive vibes :D

the world needs more of that ! :p

please don't flame me for being sappy :(

HUGE thanks to the freeware devs! i've give some donations because they are well worth it! it's really amazing that we are treated to so many hi-quality, interesting effects for free! i've bought plugins before and they aren't really offering anything better than these fellows...they constantly put them to shame. i deselect 'commercial' when searching these days because it seems pointless. i'm almost at a gig now and my FL plugin selection screens are out of control...it's great. when i come out with a cd, your names are going in the thanks section no doubt.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! :oops:

Thought of a few more folks whose work I particularly admire:

* DigitalFishPhones.
* Xoxos.
* The Elogoxa guys over in Spain (I love Baxxpander).

And that's not even mentioning freebies provided by makers of commercial software.
