You’ll need a band saw and table router. Really only a good option if you need something custom.

Depends on what you mean by custom? I'm just looking for a different colour than the original pick guards, as I have a couple I find not quite to my taste. I was thinking of using them as templates. A band saw and table router seems too much of an investment though

Like buying a lot more expensive stuff was never gamble either, right?Dirk Diggler wrote: Fri Aug 22, 2025 8:53 pm All I can say is you'll always end up with what you pay for.
You buy cheap, expect cheap.
I guess it all depends on your desire to gamble.
If it was true that you always ended up what you paid for, that would mean there was no overpriced stuff at all and all pricing was 100% fair and accurate, which is of course a highly naive thing to believe in.

For a one-off project you don't need a band saw. Get one of these cheap things:

A fret saw I think, if it has a blade. There are some electric very similar looking tools which has a thread that melts through materials like styrene, which I suspect these TEMU items are made of. Anyway, good suggestion, fret saws are dirt cheap and is probably the best option for starters, coupled with a hobby knife for cleaning up the more detailed parts and a lot of sandpaper
