I dig that goth sound. Very nice tone on the vocals. I do wish there were a bit more dynamic range, I think it would open up the stereo field a bit and give it more dimension—just my 2 cents. I did enjoy the track all-the-same.
When the data is corrupt in the Desert of the Real, Beyond the Last Thought, where intuition reigns, is the solace that will embolden and strengthen the soul, giving hope once more to this age of failing technique. eassae.com

Thanks man - I just uploaded a new version with less compression - seems a tad more dynamic i think? Grateful for a second set of ears...

No problem. IMO the latest upload works better, it has a nice sense of space, and I like the more forward vocal. Good work.

Oh sh*t, I wasn't expecting this one to hit so hard right off the bat, but it does. Love the swampy guitars. Anyone ever tell you your voice sounds like Zappa? :-) Really dig the rhythms. That part that starts around 1:00 is sweet. Dug it!

Good track. Good performance, good production. Somewhat reminiscent of Type O Negative, to my ear.

My one issue with it is the hi-hat is too loud, too separate and defined, and too active. It makes it very obvious that you're using sampled and sequenced drums. Dial the hi-hat performance and level way back, and add a lot more room sound to the drums.

"Drums in the room" is the sound of a real, live drummer, and the audience will hear it as such.

I'm also not really digging the rave synth stuff around the 3 minute mark. It doesn't seem to fit the song, but maybe it's there to appease the KVR crowd?

Thanks for the useful feedback - I've turned the hi hat down and attempted to make the dryms sound a bit more cohesive by turning up the ambience mics in ez drummer. might need to add them in a bit more though..? re: the synth - not just to appease the kvr crowd, but i was into electronic music well before heavy rock and metal so im always blending the two - not always successfully :dog:

I listened to the updated track. The drums fit in much better now and just do their thing without bringing unwelcome scrutiny to themselves.

As far as the electronic stuff, if that’s what you want to do, then do it. Just make sure you are doing it for the right reason, which is that it serves the song.

Awesome....thanks for pointing me in the right direction....i'm actually a lot happier with the track now. Saying that, you've got me thinking that maybe the 'rave synth' part around 3 mins needs to be cut and replaced by a guitar line instead...we'll see.
