From the DAW side, Bitwig does not receive any automatable parameters for X and Y position, so there is no way to record or replay the movement. Maybe a demo limitation?
Baked mode, rather than live mode, will create an impulse response that has follows the drawn path over its duration. In live mode it follows the path based on amplitude, noisiness or brightness. Maybe a synced mode that traverses the path over a set duration could be a useful addition.
In baked mode, there is no visual feedback of the created path at all, so I cannot verify or understand how the movement is being applied over time. Sonically, I also cannot reliably tell whether the impulse is actually performing the movement the way it was drawn.
This mode removes both visual and practical feedback, which makes it very hard to evaluate, refine or deliberately design the movement. Not ideal for sound design, especially when the core concept revolves around spatial navigation. Automation is key here, which is not implemented it seems.
Its over for Bitwig--CUBASE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly the same here, yes.

It's continuously being convolved, that can't really be visually displayed. Baked mode will turn your drawn path into one IR for the duration you set. If you run a dirac impulse through, you'll clearly hear the movement that's been drawn. But there is no way to automate a live drawn path, as that's not implemented. Maybe you can email them a feature request, or perhaps they'll read this thread.

Hi all!

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback, and especially to enCiphered for the detailed observations. We really appreciate people taking the time to dig into IRidia and share their experience.

We can definitely understand the confusion around the lack of visual feedback in Baked mode. In Live mode, the bead follows the path and shows which grain/impulse is active at any given moment. Baked mode works very differently: the selected grains along the entire path are rendered into a single impulse, which is then used as a whole in the convolution. Because of that, there isn’t a single “position” along the path to visualize during playback.

That said, we agree that more feedback would be helpful. Right now, the main feedback in Baked mode is the spectrogram shown in the automation-curve window, which only gives a rough sense of the result. We’re actively looking at improvements here, including a simple impulse preview playback option so you can directly audition the rendered IR.

We also hear the request for deeper automation in Live mode. At the moment, movement along the path is audio-driven, but we’re exploring adding a DAW-automatable parameter that would allow direct control over path position.

We’re planning an update that addresses some of these points and will share more soon — stay tuned!

Thanks again for the support and the great ideas. We welcome all feedback to help us make our products stronger.

Great plugin so far.

Are there any plans for a native Linux version?

Great concept and bought a license. It is very nice for sound design by using textures, field recording etc However, It is consuming a lot of CPU , even without any obvious sounds going through it but that is maybe the result of it being a reverb.
