Definitely worth a think over if you buy a license transfer. You won't be able to resale it if you lose interest in it. So it could be, save a few bucks now, be stuck with it later.

This !muzicxs wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 5:36 am Your best bet is to check dealers for boxed versions. That's how I obtained Omnisphere 2.6 for an 80 euro discount. I've never seen discounts on their official channels.
V2 boxed old stock + added update key.
That was the day.........

I'll add to the chorus...only sale I ever saw was at places like Guitar Center with their blanket discounts (with many exceptions, but Spectrasonics wasn't one of them). I got the boxed version. For the upgrade to 3.0, I saved $30 or so getting it from a plugin reseller (JRR music shop iirc). That was a wee bit stressful as I had to get mailed a code (in the paper mail!), and if something had happened to that mail I guess I'd be out of luck.
All turned out well, got the code and got to playing!

Finding V2 boxed old stock at a discounted enough price + V3 update price, below full V3 price, sounds like a scavenger hunt.

Perhaps. That's why it's important to check the company policy with the company on whether buying a new copy of v2 will auto update to v3 upon registering.sellyoursoul wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 6:32 pm Finding V2 boxed old stock at a discounted enough price + V3 update price, below full V3 price, sounds like a scavenger hunt.
I still think that what's more important than that is finding a place to demo it before purchase.

I think you will have a very hard time doing that at this point as they are probably all long gone. The upgrade price is $199 which means you would have to find a copy of version 2 at such a blowout deep discount it's priced less than $279sellyoursoul wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 6:32 pm Finding V2 boxed old stock at a discounted enough price + V3 update price, below full V3 price, sounds like a scavenger hunt.
How much less would a retainer realistically drop a $479 product like Omnisphere 2 beyond that? And would it really be worth the hassle to mess around with that in order to save $20 or $30, when you could just buy it direct with a fresh serial number and no hassle at all?

I agree. It sounds unlikely to find and a hassle to try. More realistically, an Omni V2 license transfer might be found for $200-250 + a discounted V3 upgrade at $169 (+ tax), with the V2 transfer making it not for resale. That might be worth the savings for someone who is sure that they would never want to resale it. Not me.IvyBirds wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 8:22 pmI think you will have a very hard time doing that at this point as they are probably all long gone. No I am not at all saying such a thing!jules99 wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 2:03 pm So, you're saying that, because u-he used to not to many sales and now does that that's a reason to believe Spectrasonics might, too?
Oh, sweet child...
Could you be with Spectrasonics? Ha! ha! even if you are, it would not affect my viewpoint.
What I am saying...is this whole "music instrument, synthesizer, plugin" industry is different than around 20 years ago, or so, alright? Also, I respect Spectrasonic, u-he, and Acon, and a bunch of them other software dev's, who make cool products, often at really cool, affordable prices, and!!!
EVEN FREE, SOMETIMES,
and that...to quote the Beastie Boys...
IS GRATITUDE!!!
And that's right.

Well, that is what I have been getting at, but you know, that throughout history...
Quality comes thru in the end, the "final analysis", as I like to say.
I have been posting about MuLab recently because I know it is high quality. So is Omnisphere, but it is considerably more money.
But Omnisphere has gigs of samples, right? And awesome synthesis technology.
I gotta have both!!!

Omnisphere is more than just a plugin, it's also a very deep sample library full of amazing samples that every other company would break up and sell to you as expensive sample and/or preset libraries forGrizzellda wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 8:36 amNo I am not at all saying such a thing!jules99 wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 2:03 pm So, you're saying that, because u-he used to not to many sales and now does that that's a reason to believe Spectrasonics might, too?

When you compare what it comes with and does relative to what that would cost with other options, it's actually a tremendous bargain
With Omnisphere 3 you get
1.)Excellent Sample and Synthesis Synth Engine
2.)Industry Leading Sample Library for that included
3.)one of the best VA and Wavetable Synth Plugins on the market
4.)Super nice collection of effects, many of which are actually developed by other companies and sold as separate plugins that if you purchased separately would cost more than Omnisphere, and you can use them inside and outside of Omnisphere
That is a tremendous bargain even at full retail
And there is nothing like it in freeware

Aughhhh... Up until like... Maybe a week or two ago Musician's Friend and Guitar Center offered Omnisphere 2 at an $80 discount with a free upgrade (very little hassle - Spectrasonics has amazing support) to v3. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like that deal exists anymore. 'Twas basically Omnisphere 3 for the cost of $399 and two emails. But all things must pass.
