I don't often use VSTi automation (I tend to preprogram it into the patch itself and attach filters etc to velocity or wheel or LFOs or whatever) but I'm fairly sure it does move with the part. Certainly channel FX automation etc moves with the midi part. Possibly you might lose it if you move the part to a different channel (even if on the same numbered midi channel)...can't say I've ever tried that though. Even if it doesn't move with the part, you can copy and paste any automation. If you didn't want to do that, then you can simply enter in two points at the start and end of the part and draw a line or curve etc between the two. I'll also check it out later...I really would be surprised if VSTi automation doesn't link to the part though.Grimes wrote:

In case it's not clear, I'm trying to automate a synth parameter (such as filter cutoff) and have this be connected to a MIDI part. This is easy to do with MIDI CC data in the Key Editor, but apparently VST automation has better resolution.
ah, sorry Grimes, now i know what you mean. but again i would have thought that the vst automation is related to the midi track, so that automation will follow (if the option is set). ill check this later at home.
