To use the builder analogy: let's say that the builder was spending his time tweaking a corner of a piece of lath that was strictly decorative, but before he finishes the major roof repair.. and it rains. That corner looks nice but your house is flooded.
It's a case of proper allocation of resources and time. You can have pride in craftmanship without becoming an obsessed anal-retentive nutcase that wants "perfection" (whatever THAT is).
