Will T2 support altivec and dual processor?
:?

WTF are you talking about? Other than Final Mix, I'm almost sure the Mac version has had more updates since it first arrived. Granted it was to fix bugs for the new platform but still. Jules has always been commited to both platforms. Final Mix was not even programmed by Jules so the code is probably out of his control.

But i still think it's a great program tho!

You shouldnt' need a dual processor the beauty of tracktion is that its so low on resources and just WORKS..!!

Sell your dual, get an AMD and live forever HAPPY!!
Right. I never use T on my powerbook, but all the time on my PC :)

you gave the answer yourself, bugfixes are way more numerous cause there's more bugs... And i don't rate software on the number of fixes but the number that's left...

hm, i suppose you don't use reaktor as a plugin?

You claim that they "set back Mac users" because the Mac version gets few updates and bug fixes, and I dont see what this is based on. What makes you think there isnt any PC bugs? Since the Mac version came PC users have gotten less bug fixes than Mac users. So how exactly is Jules trying to "set Mac users back" .

Sounds like a good rating to me. So whats the problem.

I'm not saying he's deliberately trying to screw mac users... In fact it mainly boils down to the final mix issue, but i remember having less hassle with bugs and crashes on pc than on mac.

the no of bugs left... But i do realize that it's not realistic to ask for bug-free software...

Right, but I think the ONLY point AD80 was making was this:

Your original complaint was that Mac users are set back. We take that to mean "Mac users are more ignored". This has nothing to do with the number of bugs left to fix.

The response was, "He has spent more time fixing bugs for Mac than for PC, and Final Mix is out of his control."

The only conclusion that can be drawn from the complaint and the response was that 'no', in fact Jules has demonstrated that he is as committed to the Mac by focusing MORE on Mac bug fixes, and therefore has NOT ignored the Mac users.

That's it, that's all. ;)

I think the only think Mac users should really be complaining about is the lack of AU support, since they are likely the future of the platform. Jules (and maybe Mackie) likely have no control over Final Mix supporting the Mac. It isn't really an integrated Tracktion feature anyway, so I can't see how anyone could be too upset about it.

I used Tracktion on a Powerbook for several months and was very happy with it generally, my only issue that made me look for another solution was loop support, which is exactly the same on both platforms.

Post

ok, sorry, lunch money made a very good point there... Guess i'm a bit frustrated about some aspects of T...
And yep, no au support is indeed a problem to be solved, but as there is no au version for a lot of freeware yet it doesn't really bother me. What bothers me more for example is that logic 7 supports ONLY au. Now that's some unfair marketing...

And what's whith these tiny letters? Can't read a darn thing like this!

Tracktions a single codebase, conditionally compiled using the JUCE library. So any bugs should be cross-platform! Apart from low level JUCE stuff, its the same code on both platforms.

Seriously?
So that means that differences in stability are due to hardware specifications and system settings?

Oops...

'xcuse me, didn't know that, i'll humbly retreat from this thread...

it's possible for the PC version and Mac versions to have slightly differing levels of OS/hardware compatibility. Other than that, the programs are effectively identical.

It may be that a broken feature affects one group more than another (for example aiff support seems to cause mac users problems, which means it is probably broken on the PC versiontoo, but who on PC uses aiff much), but the the problem would still exist for both platforms.

For hobbyists, why change sequencers? T is a steal at the price,...etc.
Hi Valley,

I completely agree with you arguments, and i know what a dedicated T fan you are too, as well as a knowledgeable one.

I have come to check up on T2 virtually everyday for months - albeit "silently " - and have seen quite a few people move away...or at least partly away amid some varying amounts of frustration.

All the common sense T1 represents does not protect it from marketing being targeted at the very people you are referring to.(Garage Band...etc)
And targeted marketing does its thing...people build up expectations...etc

Of course, some will - for financial or other reasons - not go for anything else, and that good.
But the - partial - lack of infrastructure still endangers any product.
That's all I'm saying. And if the fans don't put a reasonable amount of good pressure, then what's the point of having a forum?
I'm a fan.
But T1 doesn't implement some key things, and T2 is about 9 months late on schedule.
Everything you say, once again is totally valid. But for any debate to be constructive, all aspects have to be taken in account.

Peace and things
B.
