rounser, i've used both.. the latest MT rc5 IS comparable to Renoise. There is obviously more stuff in Renoise but it's nothing heavy weight.

I'm not trying to start a tracker war :D Just making an observation. Renoise has a nice but oppresive GUI while MT is butt ugly :D

to be fair, Renoise offers non fixed structure of all parameters. Everything can be freely moved around. that is clearly in another league than MT's hardwired interface. for some ppl there are things in MT that might be able to balances that though.

I miss not using trackers - well Octamed on the Amiga, but the difficulty now is like other sequencers they have become 'complex' and without spending several sessions learning any given program IMO it is unfair to judge.
I miss using trackers too, but the problem for me is not with the complexity but the lack of a proper sequencer element (Buzz being an exception but I don't use that for a separate reason). It was this one pattern per sequence step aspect of tracking that made me look in the direction of the other sequencers and until one comes along that can offer this arrangement functionality, I won't be going back to that type of software.

I am actually a registered Renoise owner and know that multipattern sequencing is on their list of future features, but considering how long version 1.5 has taken to reach RC status, I doubt we will be seeing this functionality until the end of the year...

Actually, I think I'd use trackers more if it wasn't for the damn keyboard on my laptop. The keys keep falling off! Not very good for an application that relies heavily on keyboard shortcuts and the arrow keys.
