The 1st and 3rd pictures both clearly show a spot that says "input gain". I can't imagine that's NOT what C00kie was thinking of....

What does your Delta control panel turn up?

Right, Greg, I think the "input gain" was the one. Or was it actually the Master fader :? I think I have been dreaming. Anyway, I was doing a simple test the other day and I had to adjust something to let 0dB be shown up as 0dB. Now its set I can't find it and I'm not going to do a re-install for this.

Within tracktion you have the Input Gain, the track level fader, and the Master fader. When watching the master levels then all these must be set to zero to have accurate level readings. Or just click on the input device, and you see the input levels there.

And ofcourse there probably is a bunch of faders in the signal chain before it reaches Tracktion. Each card has its own mixer application, maybe even the mic preamp is clipping...

Hi COOkie, LM and elGringo. The pictures I posted were from my work's computer and I don't remember changing any similar setting as COOkie mentioned. I check my setup at home (audiobuddy->audiophile2496) and the levels at Delta's mixer were consistent whith the levels in Tracktion (highlighting the input device ofcourse). Cliping only occurs if I push the preamp gain enough and then I hit 0 db in both Delta's mixer and Traction input level. Nothing peculiar, everything works as it's supposed to.

If you select the input in Tracktion and it only show a max of -6db I'd say that is because that is the level of the signal being feed into Tracktion, indicating the source of the audio is only outputing at -6db.

Look at your sound card settings and recheck all physical faders etc.

You should not have to change Tracktions default input settings to make up gain from your sound card, unless your sound card is prehistoric or your sound source is very quiet.
