I can't take credit for it. I don't remember who, but last time this topic came up (I think this is the third similar thread. ;)) someone mentioned it as a better alternative to mere filter grouping, and I for one agree.

yup, but it'd still be a pain to redo the order of filters...

Yes, that's true, but consider this:

Isn't the point of wrapping them all up a way to consolidate the work you've done? The assumption is that you put them in the desired order in the normal filter area. You change them around and whatnot until the sound is exactly what you want. THEN you auto-wrap, and you shouldn't really need to move them around.

If you then decide to change them around and drastically alter your sound, aren't you really just making a whole new one anyhow? If a total re-working is in order, just do it from scratch in the filter area and re-wrap as a whole new preset.

See what I mean? In other words-- if you're planning on shifting shit all over the place, why bother 'wrapping' them together either as a preset OR as a rack? You're obviously not done making the sound yet. And if you ARE done, you won't need to re-order them and wrapping in a rack will work fine.

Another useful function along the same lines would be to highlight multiple filters (in the normal area) and be able to move them to other tracks or into a rack, instead of one at a time.

What am I missing? I have set up a rack with an amp sim and a couple of other miscellaneous effects. I drag an instance to track 1, easy enough... I want to use same effects on track 2, so I drag "New Filter" on to Track 2 and select the wrapper filter I just set up. That too is easy enough. I now go to record on track and I see that there is output on both Track 1 and 2. My question is this... How do seperate the two?

save the rack you have as a preset. create a new rack, then load the preset in that one. put the original on track 1 and the new rack on track 2.
