@ Ezy... sorry if I wasn't clear.. I was addressing the fact that some mov's playback and some don't. Regarding the QT playback problem Steve is encountering, I'm not sure as it had worked on my powerbook fine. it's a work atm, so I won't be able to investigate til tomorrow tho.
@ Ezy.. regarding storyboarding... I can see it's use I s'pose... My background is the Avid, so I'm use to working scenes as they are observed in realtime. No storyboard views (tho the option is there). Just a different way of working I s'pose.

Does that explain why I can't open other files than .mov? I should have thought that all the files I can open with quicktime means I have the necessary codecs and so they should also open in Tracktion?ModuLR wrote:another point to clearify is that quicktime can actually support many different codecs. For example, if I create a quicktime using the Avid Comrpessor codec.. you won't see it unless that codec is on your machine. Quicktime is much like a container.

No, because Quicktime is a standalone application that was written to support multiple format, while Tracktion doesn't support file format other than the .mov. I can encode an AVI and a MOV file using the DV codec, for instance, and Tracktion won't open the AVI but will open the MOV (ok, I'm guessing at that particular codec as I haven't tried it). I hope it's clearer.frankvg wrote:Does that explain why I can't open other files than .mov? You Guys rock hard, I love this forum
I wasn't aware that the Quicktime movies had to be in the .mov format. Converted a file into .mov and it now is selectable in T2
It's all good
Thank you so much
Steve
