Yeah, I agree... I was being generous with the "half" comment. It's hard for me to judge as I'm skipping past all the crap so quickly with the TiVo.Voidoid Surrealist wrote:Half? What cool universe are YOU living in?MikeLeuz wrote:If you have VH1 Classic, watch Metal Mania. Half the videos are "good" metal, the other half fall squarely into the bad/cheesy classification imnsho. Thank god for TiVo... I can skip past the Slaughter and Bullet Boys and go straight to the Overkill and Fates Warning videos.
Try around 90% cheese.
I can't even begin to tell you the hours of my life wasted watching shitty bands, many of which aren't just crappy metal, but not even metal at all! Sorry, VH1Classic, Bon Jovi was not, and will never be metal. A vast amount of the stuff they play on that show is just shitty 80's rock, nothing "metal" about it. But I'll always get sucked into the damn thing, just so I can see the occasional Exodus, or Anthrax vid.
Damn, I wish I had TiVo.
/rant off
Anyway, if you want cheese, look no further than Saxon, Manowar, and Helloween.
If you want plain funny, listen to some Gwar, SOD, and Coven. Coven was f**king HILARIOUS.
Funniest Coven songs:
McDonaldland Massacre
Iron Dick
Boneless Christian
Reaming The Pope (Wee Mr. Tuggs, anyone?)
Speaking of Manowar, a friend's trying to talk me into going to see them. I'm trying to talk him into seeing King Diamond instead (since both of us seem to be in the mood to see a cheesy metal band), but he'd rather see Manowar. Insane! KD is really the only metal act I've always wanted to see live but never have.

THAT'S exactly who I was coming in here to post before I saw that slag on Death..If it wasn't for cross-over bands like Death, ppl would still be listening to pathetically inept speedmetal like Death Angel & Flotsam & Jetsam..tkmattson wrote:Stryper. Not only did they suck, but they sucked for God.

A couple I can think of off the top here:
Warlock - Sounded like Twisted Sister with Pat Benetar singing
Meliah Rage - Just sounded horrible to me
Flotsem and Jessom - I can't even spell it right.
Uncle Slam - Metal punk rock played at 20bpm.
I think I could go on and on but I'll stop here.

I liked "And justice for all". There are two or three songs on that album that really impressed me.damnhatesyou wrote:i know i will piss alot people off by saying this and i always have though Metallica are one of most boring bands ever.
Everything after that is......well........pretty bad.
How did St. Anger get released?? That snare...my GOD that snare is just plain awful.

I've got to say, pretty much all hair-metal is, IMHO awful.
Bon Jovi, Poison, Motly Crue, Pantera (first few albums), Twisted Sister, god this could go for ages.
Also the whole of NWOBHM - Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc. euch.
Sabbath, King Crimson => Slayer
