If I were a beginner and had no preconceptions about what a sequencer host can offer, then Tracktion it would be. However I know what a sequencer can do for me, and 8 years experience on this would be like going backwards (no offence) for me.
I realy do hope Tracktion could be made out of better eclectic protocols.
I dont see anything wrong with "copying" the best of what works and hence my posting would like it to go beyond expectations.
Maybe they can come up with some type of customizable solution to its workabout.

What some people see as going backwards, others see as resisting change. ;) Sure, there's something to be said for established ways of working. But there's also something to be said for trying suggestions and a new way instead of just dismissing.

I would like the best of both worlds personally. If T had scroll bars as well as the current setup, I think it would be easier to navigate. I always have found T's navigation a little wonky  I love F8 though. But I'm bouncing back and forth between the T2 demo and Logic myself just comparing stuff and Logic's scrolls are really handy.

navigation in T is the best thing about it!

Don't bother with scolling at all, just put zoom on the mouse wheel and then when you want to find a different point in the edit drag the top bar of the edit screen.

Also, make CTR happen when you press the mouse wheel button this makes you open/ compress all track heights.

It just doesn't get quicker than this, honest!

I'm not knocking Tracktion, but I don't see how that is any more efficient than using Logic's scroll bars

wheelie mouse, wheelie mouse, wheelie mouse

wheelie mouse

Those +/- zoom buttons and scroll bar's are soooo yesterday. :P

Wheelie mouse. Tracktion's navigation is heaps handier than stupid scrollbars. ;)

Bollox to scroll bars.

WHEELIE MOUSE!!!!!

T's Magnificient Mousewheel Manouvers in the Arrangement is the main reason I like it so much. Compared to Cubase & eXT, not to speak about disasters like Final Cut, zooming&scrolling around t feels more like thinking than making actual physical movements.

(that said, I wouldn't mind stealing the automation from Logic, Podium or eXT :) )

Yeah, I've gotta say. After using Tracktion for so long, I find apps with scrollbars annoying. It's just wasted screen estate.

I'm sure if enough people ask for them they'll get added, but I hope they are optional if so.

I dunno, I have no problems at all navigating Logic  I'm not asking for any changes to T's navigation, I'm just saying other apps work fine for me and I don't find T particularly better in that regard. T's biggest strength for me personally is that it is cross platform. If it were Windows only I wouldn't consider it. I have a hard time justifying Logic since it is Mac only.

scroll bars: no!

I just wish [ctrl]+wheely srolled vertically instead of that silly all track resize that never gets used (speaking for myself of course). If that was made a reality, then all horizontal+vertical+zooming could be handled with a wheely mouse, and a hand on modifer keys. :D
