warning venting below:
So is the impression here that online sales are not possible until boxed sales are available? Would it hurt the folks at Mackie to tell us this? How could we make a rational decision to pre-order a box or not without this info? If they have "good reasons" they might share them, no? The kind of paranoid corporate culture we see over at Apple is not something I thought I would bump into in the world of T!

If, in fact, the reasons for the delay is still contracts, then how could you even TRY to sell something online or otherwise. I would rather them not take the risk of something falling through and disappointing people because they promised them "XYZ" plug-in, then they pulled out just before the contract was signed. So, in this case, no, they can't sell online, even pre-order, until everything is ready. As for the online retailers that are pre-ordering T2, who knows. Maybe they are just showing faith in Mackie.
Also, people keep coming in and asking for answers from Mackie as to the delay. They claim that Mackie hasn't spoken about this. But that's complete nonsense. Mackie HAS, on MANY occasions, through Beno, told us that there have been delays, including contract issues and overlooked bugs. What more do people want? A daily report as to what is happening? Instead, people get their panties in a wad because they feel they haven't been told. When in fact, they just haven't heard what they want to hear.
Go back and read. Everything you are asking for in the way of answers has been mentioned. Beno has been gone for a couple weeks, but before that, on numerous occasions he has answered the question. That's why some of us get defensive around here. It just keeps getting asked, beating a dead horse. It's been answered, and it hasn't changed, or they would tell us.

I'd like a daily report. In fact, I DEMAND a daily report with bug metrics, marketing samples, and nightly builds attached! Get to it Mackie, chop chop!

Koolkeys: Preorders for boxes ARE being sold for $149. people are able to pay and get what they get.
I'd be happy to pay an upgrade price - unlock T2 and get the plugs whenever and however. Mackie just has to decide how much they want for it.
as far as being told before etc etc: I bought T1 March 27 and have kept close to this forum in the interval. Folks wouldn't keep asking if Mackie weren't vague: ie "upgrade prices *and availability* to be determined." As far as being defensive - its not your company - you have nothing to defend.
A happy user base is key to the longevity of the platform. Good customer support and coporate communication help keep the user base happy.

Again, my comments aren't nessarily aimed at you, but just general statements.
I know that pre-orders are being sold, that's why I mentioned it. But Mackie can't do that, because they are the "official" word. They can't "take the chance" at something not turning out the way it was planned. As for other retailers, they are just taking a risk, and that's their choice. But Mackie can't do that at the risk of contradicting themselves.
An upgrade price would be nice. However, if the contracts are not done, it's hard to say how much they will affect it. Considering that Mackie will probably pay a lump sum or rather a per-order price, whichever one it is, it will likely depend on what percentage of upgrades and new users purchase. Again, I'm confident, as BENO has said, that there are specific reasons why they can't give the price. And we're just going to have to live with that fact.
Beno was NOT vague. He was specific when he said that contract negotiations were still being made. And when he said that a couple large bugs came up, that seemed pretty specific to me. They weren't vague. They just didn't give the answer everyone wanted to hear.
Tracktion DOES have a happy user base. Consider how many users it has. Even just on this forum alone. Now go to any other software forum. I'll make a bet that the majority of software will have about the same percentage of unhappy users. It may seem the percentage is high, but it's a proven fact that unhappy users are much more vocal then happy users. And if you consider how many hundreds and hundreds of users don't ever step foot on the forum. They are happy, and are busy making music. They don't come here because they don't need to.
So I don't know where anyone thinks that the userbase is unhappy. It's just not true.

You don't go to a forum to state how happy you are with something, you just keep working, happy as ever. It's when it doesn't work you go colmplain about it, maybe looking for answers, often just venting. To say something is crappy because of alot of negative posts on a forum just is a bad idea. If 30% of the posts are positive or neutral it's probably a pretty good product imo..

This is off topic but for the last month or so I've been rediscovering Rick's music after a 20 or so year break. The man is a genius! He's like a modern day Bach, so prolific. Do you know there are 94 plus albums of his listed on his website and that's without DVDs etc.haydxn wrote:like rick wakeman?![]()
