Hi to all
It remembers me a lot on the PSP Mixpack included
MixBass. The plugin has a harmonic knob for the LFs, a Lf Compressor and a lf gain knob and at last a saturation over the whole signal...

Version update 0.9.2
Compressor knob and LF Gain knob. Also Monitor and Bypass switches. Tuning should be easy with these now. Two new presets are also available.
For me, this FX sounds interesting - of course if you are open to bass sound reshaping.

i usually work with plain 909/808 kicks.steffensen wrote:my experience is that most kicks (samples that is..) already is overprocessed in many ways, so that effect chain of yours Ronny, looks a bit like overkill, for me anyway. but sure.. i can see the point of it.
i only use the gate shorten the kicks' tail a little bit, to get absolute silence for ~1/8-1/16th before the next kick punches in. most compressors seem to dig thatsteffensen wrote: litle bruzzled over what the gate effect is doin there tho?
this effect chain provides very good control about the kicks' shape, where subtle distortion takes place etc. running a bassdrum through a boombox just destroys the punch which is not what i'm after.steffensen wrote: if i dit it like that, my kicks would sound like a major KLICK, and the body would be completely gone. hehe.. so for me its enough with some decent EQ:ing along with some form of distortion/overdrive if needed.
i like results like this

Well, i might be a little off-topic, but if the purpose of your plugin is to give more punch to the bass in a mixdown, why not including a phase correlation option, in order to avoid phase inversion and re-centring the basses below a chosen frequency more in the center of the stereo space ?
MOst of the plugins don't do such a thing, and to reach that goal, i have to make a whole chain of vst effects. A single plugin doing it would be welcome !
(in the spirit of otiumFx Basslane, which i do not find so efficient, or Bbe SOnicMaximizer).

Ronny Pries,
ah, for clean 909/808 kicks i understand your point even more. i myself have never gotten the 909/808 kicks to sound that interesting. wil try your chain tho.
but regarding gate, cant u just set the Envelope a bit shorter? thats what i always do when i need a shorter end.
great mp3 there Ronny! teach me obi wan..
that kick didnt sound Clicky at all, as mine always seme to do. oh well, gonna try your chain, as well as this new voxengo thingy and give it a go.
btw, i'm using Limelite in Reaktor pretty much these days, wich kinda contains a version of your chain, well kinda. from that experience i gotta say its a real candy using this technique.
(guess i will have to make some pre-processing now and make some nice kicks to use in Limelite..
)

steffensen,
by shorting the envelope you probably don't reach absolute 0 which is crucial for the attack in such kicks. that's also common when you start recording a track and the kick punches in the first time it's way heavier than throughout the track. so i just use to the gate to make sure it's 0 when i want it without having to try numerous envelope settings.
in order to bring back the punch the kick's missing after compression i use the limiter to retreive the 'oomph'. not all limiters are suitable for this since many negatively affect the initial power gained from compressing the kick before. in fact, i never saw a one-in-all solution for bassdrums.
that's where aleksey comes in (at last

aha i see. so a simple Hold knob wouldnt do this either? i am using the Hold thingy both in Limelite and Battery, and as far as i know, that could be counted as a Gate..kinda..couldnt it?
i recognize what u mean about the kick sounding waay to heavy on the initial hit tho, didnt know you could solve that with a Gate! sure gonna try this chain in a few hours.
btw, what limiter do you use/recomend for this purpose then?
i use Logic, and would for sure like to use the internal efx if possible. they havent let me down yet. i also have creamware efx to fullfill my needs, but some things are easier to manage thru native solutions.
thanks fr all your advice Ronny, (svensk?:)
now i'm even more eager to test what Aleksey have cooked up!

Describing looks interesting .. but it's not an bass-exciter as waves ren or maxxbass?
Something like RenBass but with more control about the effect.
It seems to be the same as with transmodder: It's not the original, not the behaviour as the one from the original. (SPL TransientDesigner)
But i'll give it a try ..

i don't know how exactly decay acts in limelite. and no, i don't want to bypass that effect with a gate, i want reproduce it constantly and less heavy over an entire tracksteffensen wrote:i recognize what u mean about the kick sounding waay to heavy on the initial hit tho, didnt know you could solve that with a Gate! sure gonna try this chain in a few hours.![]()
actually i'm kinda stuck on one of buzzroom's limiters, since i still only have a beta i can only assume thatthis became the final version.
hm, i never tried elephant for this so i bet i'll do that lateron as well.

This looks very interesting to me Aleksy so I'll be trying it out first chance I get.
I'm pretty familiar with the Baxxpander, Edge and PSP MixBass plugins and the harmonic stimulation problems that can occur along with other bass noises you get when both "low bass ambient noise" and bass are manipulated.
In other words I have more luck shaping the bass using a seperate cloned low-pass track with just EQ and Elephant on it. A tool designed to do the job properly is most welcome!

Initial testing reveals this to be a very nice addition to the catalog, Aleksey!
And I *need* it, too! I have a project where I have been searching for the right way to make the low end (kicks especially) punchier without adding mud, to no avail. The "Sensible Punch" setting seems to get it there!
Release! Release!
