I'm glad you mix at 16 bit. Thanks for sharing.

btw I noticed that you're only commenting on my post, but not adding anything useful to the thread. I hate it when people do that.
I hate it when people ride llamas around and call me silly Sally.

There's a lot of hatred in your life dude. You need more love. (or maybe this was just your way to get my attention?)
Oi. Times like this I wish I was xoxos...

Look. I was just saying: Whether he knew or not about the search function is irrevelant. I know of the search fuction and I still start threads like these every once in a while. I didn't say anything because my vote goes for BBE which has already been mentioned. There's no need to get all c**nty about it.

Edit as for bitrate mastering, YOU brought it up.

niagaragain has a class A exciter ;)

4Front Auxicer and 4Front Contour Max are both handy tool for this. I like Contour Max the best (works like Sonic Maximizer)

And maybe, just maybe, an exciter is not the solution to *his* problem. Too many people mixing at 16bit think they need an exciter, while mixing at 24bit will preserve the natural brightness of a track or mix
That's a bit of a sweeping generalisation - probably not even true for the majority that frequent KvR...
a) If you don't put highs in to start with, you won't get them out at the end, 16 or 24bit.
b) I think you must be assuming everyone records real instruments or something - if you render VSTi and even h/w synths, there is likely to be a distinct lack of highs even if you render at 32bits. I use 32bit and I need an enhancer. Remember LPFs are a very popular filter on synths - wouldn't make any difference what bitrate you use to record with if you've got a load of synths with LPFs and samples playing.
There still seems to be this myth that enhancers are now redundant because we record digitally - complete nonsense really, especially with something like the BBE.

And my vote goes for the BBE too (although I use a h/w one in preference to the s/w).

Does anyone know where to find a demo of BBE???

:help:

BTW - so far my fave is Stardust!

Best exciter is 4front's Auxiter.....no competition 8)

and f**k sonic maximzer....i do respect it...and have used it endlessly in the past...but now that george yhoung of 4front has made contour max...i don't bother with anything else

I've got a hardware BBE, and the software as well. But as I developed my mixing techniques I started using it less and less. Using shelving EQ and multiband compression I get good results with greater control. I still break it out on compromised material from time to time. But BBE is easy to overuse and tends to make a mix sound too harsh. So when I use it I raise the process knob just enough to detect it and then back it off a little. I don't master with it just enhance dull sounding stuff.
Pentagon,z3ta+,Tassman,Vsampler 3,FM7,Vocator,Sonar 3 Producer,SoundForge,Awave,Vegas 5
SFZ+,P5. And two kick ass DawBox machines!
