Hi bassface I should have mentioned before that the Logic Control and Mackie are functionally and physically identical as far as I know....the only difference being the legending...you would probably be better off with the Mackie since it's legending will be more generic...Mackie designed/engineered the Logic Control with the then Emagic if I recall hence the Mackie Control appearing a year or so after....fortunately for the Logic PC/Mac users with the update they got full Mackie Control Universal support since the Logic unit was initially locked to Logic only as a control surface so as to speak and in return the Mackie would work as a Logic Control surface.Maybe this was part of the deal at the time.

Otherwise it's one of the few rare cases where any thing (paid)by emagic has probably been squeezed out of them for accesss to 3rd party stuff save their midi units.(Probably a few broken legs and arms were involved to get that out of them :hihi:  )

As for the O1x I can't comment but it's a seriously powerful bit of kit...firewire,audio and midi with various host emus all wrapped up in a nice motorised package....it can do some very special routings if I recall with your hosts tracks regards bussing and Fx routing...a very clever little boy it is for sure.

You could just use the sonar, logic etc lexan overlays etc for the Mackie anyway.

OK, Lexan overlays for both MCU and C4 are on the way. Aparantly they should be arriving at Mackie soon. When they arrive, you will be able to order them for a small fee.

Also, for all those users who want to learn more about how the control surfaces integrate with T2, see chapter 7.3 and 7.4 in the T2 Reference Guide. There is also a picture of the full overlay there for you to refer to. We spent a lot of time on the implementation and personally I think they really integrate wonderfully.

On the face of it, I'd agree with you (and I have asked Yamaha the question as well). However, the 01x works exactly as expected in both CuBase and Sonar (I have these) and I've never seen anyone complaining that it didn't work with Logic, Nuendo or Digital Performer. It also works fine with Yamaha's own SQ01 (although that's about all you could say about this bit of software :) ).

Obviously, when the 01x was released, T2 didn't exist but, as far as I'm aware, nearly all users run their hardware in 'Mackie mode' and a bug such as this surely would have been noticed and commented upon.

I bet they do

Greased lightning is forming under my finger tips.

Looking forward to their delivery.

...the full transistion will then be complete....I will metamorphosise into a pair of HR's on their arrival

That's all great news with the exception of the 01x recording problem.

Beno, will Mackie possibly start including T2 with Control purchases, the way they were including T1 w/Spike?

Very exciting.

To be fair, it's more of a buglet than a major issue. As I use a trackball, I just leave the pointer over the software record icon and hit the button on that, instead of the 01x.

All the other advantages of the 01x far outweigh this little problem. It would be nice to get it sorted though.

Thanks Graeme.

How's the quality on the DSP and other goodies with the 01x? Is it stuff you actually use? And how's the quality of the unit itself?
You seem to be "out of luck" like Billy Bob was out of luck when Angelina was riding his face. --Pough

I have to say the overall quality is pretty damn good. The DSP is more than usable and the mic preamps are well up to scratch, unless you are using mics with an extremely low output (but that's true of many mixers).

Some people complain about a lack of balanced outputs from the monitor section - but it's never worried me. Balanced outputs on a line level signal are not really necessary.

The build quality is excellent - no cheapo plastic cases here.

Offhand, the only real drawbacks I can think of are the lack of separate outputs for monitors and cans (a lot of users hang one of those little Samson amps on the output, I imagine a Mackie Big Knob would also do the job) and 60mm throw faders. However, you soon get used to them and they had to save some money somewhere :) .

If you get the chance, go see one. I think you'll be impressed with its overall capabilities.

I haven´t figured out if it is possible to assign keyboard shortcuts in T2 to VST-instruments. I would for example like to have the shortcut "1" for my 1st instrument, "2" for my second, etc.

Is it possible to assign special buttons as shortcuts to VST-instruments with the Mackie Control?
