Links to specific topics don't work on that forum, you just get a link to the forum index... but if you go to the "General" section it's on the first page quite near the top of the list.

A tip using that forum: select in the forum body and 'open frame in new window' and you get the forum full-paged and you can create links to specific threads.

Did you enable rewire on Tracktion's settings tab and restart?

Quit Live. Download the 4.1.2 update.

After restarting Tracktion, restart Live. You should see a warning that Live has detected another rewire host and cannot act as a master. That's good.

In Tracktion, drop a filter on a track and select Rewire from the drop down list. Seclect the filter and select Live from the menu in the properties panel. Change the outputs to something other than master L R like channel 5 (used in the Live manual example.)

For general troubleshooting, I used the Logic example on Ableton's page:

After all the fuss, I decided I prefered to route audio directly in Tracktion so I resintalled the latest version of Jack:

... and followed the instructions. Only Rewire and Jack don't seem to get along very well so it's and either / or thing.

Just like to add my experience ...

XP Home SP2, Tracktion 2.0.1.4 demo version upgraded online, Live 4.1.2

1. Load T2

2. Load Live 4 (Get the Master open acting as Slave message)

3. Load Live Set in Live

4. Press <Play> in either program - silence (T2 Transport moves though). As with DHR53 on OSX 10.3.9 only a L/R audio input choice.

4a. Same lack of anything with Reason 2.5

The <Launch Editor> button changes colour but doesn't seen to do much else. IIRC T1<-Rewire->Reason was easy peasy and reliable.

Have I forgotten to do some audio routing or something ? Or is this a buglet ?

I think it just doesn't work... So far no one has confirmed getting Live to run as a slave properly in T... Reason 3.0 won't sync properly to Logic either... So I don't know what's up at this point... Rewire seems to be an "almost" kind of deal, depending on what apps your running... Reason works fine with Live as a slave, Reason instruments work fine in T and Logic... But the sync problems remain... (your right, the launch interface buttons on T do nothing to the rewire app?)

Still rendering from Live to a Wav file is a workaround, but as just happened to me, I needed to change a loop level in the Live output - that's a 5 minute job to quit everything, reload Live, render, quit and reload T and import the Wav again !

Still mustn't grumble

I can't comment on Logic, but Live, Reason and Audition ALL do what they should do as Rewire hosts and slaves. The only problem in the mix here is with Tracktion. Version one was a problem, but version 2 is even worse

The "launch interface" button in Tracktion works for Reason, but not for Live, which you need to launch independantly.

just throwing this out there... have you checked to make sure there is only 1 version of the rewire library installed on your machine? Sometimes, especially when dealing with multiple rewire based software, they will install differing versions of the rewire library which tends to cause problems. Might be worth checking and making sure you only have a single version of the lib installed.

BTW if the launch button doesn't work, it is usually the rewire slave which has not implemented remote launching. Can't speak for the mac (cos it's not in front of me), but launching works with FLStudio, Plogue, and I believe reason if I recall correctly. It's never worked with live. Tell the ableton people to implement it, and it will surely work.
