Well, the good news is that'll be just in time for the v6 upgrade. :P

I would think you could find an older SSE CPU compatible with your motherboard for fairly cheap. Any shop selling older stock, surplus, or wholesale should have one kicking around. Probably set you back less than $40.
Yeah, but I'm going to have to replace the whole thing eventually anyway (need to be able to surround mix at home, which I can't presently) - I don't want to live through all that machine-ID specific challenge-response registration complications too many times. I only have one more reinstallation left on my crusherX license, for example, so my next install will be on my next computer.

Lucifer 1.5 VST does some similar things as a VST FX. Try the Microspread ( <--> ) knob and faster (higher) MIDI black-key repeats, with or without INCARN mode enabled.

Please feel free to send me any comments as well, I'm starting to think about Lucifer 2.0 (which will be a free update someday).

I see lucifer mentioned a lot...is there anything that plug can't do? or are you just overhyping it...

I've only seen it mentioned as a cutup/glitch/scratch effect, which it is.

It isn't a compressor nor a reverb for example, and Steve rarely suggests it is. :hihi:

Well, I tried out a couple of my finds and revisted a few of my existing tools yesterday evening: psuedograins, sideslip, and skutterbug.

I couldn't use psuedograins because it appears to need to load a sample, as opposed to buffering the incoming audio stream.

so moved onto sideslip, which appears to be exactly the sort of thing I was looking for, but I had a hard time fine tuning the little sliders and the speed. But with some practice this one looks promising.

and retried skutterbug (because I couldn't remember what it did) and through its minimal controls it turned out to get me the closest sounding to what I was imagining, but had to be played live rather than really any sequencing (again, aside from automating parameters)

Basically I have been trying to destroy some vocal tracks via granular re-synthesis in step with the music. Hopefully without all of my previous cut and paste and cut and paste (ad infinitum) routine.

I will look up KT granulator, and install the lucifer demo tonight and give them a spin as well as looking back into cyclotron...

That sucks about Reaktor, I guess even if I saved my pennines and bought it, I would not be able to run it on my computer...

You might want to try Audio Mulch - has a few excellent granular/buffer gadgets (delay line granulator, nebuliser, pulse comb etc.) all tempo syncable in a variety of ways.

can one assume you've tried 'supatrigga' ?...

this , in combination w/ some of the others mentioned , may elict a favorable result ...

Oh, and presumably you've tried Buffer Override by DestroyFX?

It does do a lot, I only like to make sure people know about it as I don't have money to advertise :) I spent a year developing it, granted I was learning C++ along the way.

I think the price is fair- I'm just trying to recoup a little of my lost time. I work on music for a living and I'm not trying to make a living from the plugin (if the name didn't make that clear) :hihi:

if anyone honestly doesn't have $66 but thinks Lucifer is cool, just send me an email and we can work something out.

Yeah, SupaTrigga and Buffer override were 2 of the first fx i tried out. buffer override is pretty close, but i coudnt get supatrigga down to the fine level of control I was looking for.

I guess the reason I have looked past a lot of stuff is the lack of step sequenced parameters.

But lucifer looks like it might handle a bunch of that stuff.

@Steve (Bitcrusher) - I appreciate the fact that you would take time to recommend your software in places that it is actually applicable, even if its just to one person. I can sympathise with targeted promotions.

I look forward to trying it out tonight. (couldn't really last night because I had to finish up some cd packaging for a local HxC band...ugh..)

Lucifer's great, and Steve runs a great company. Get yourself onboard with that one, Kelly.

Yeah, I just listened to a sample of it from another thread in the production technique forum. It sounds like it might just do the trick.

In a few words - Smart Electronics : IOPOLONG - Slifty , Splonky , FlitchSplifter & Resolator ...

To be honest I'm totally suprised no one has mentioned these at all ...........
