Why so many bad artists/songs at HMV/Virgin/Towers?

It feels like hell in there, the selection has gotten worse almost every day of the last ten years, and this may be restricited to the main Toronto store, but they move everything around pretty much every 3 months, usually to make room for more DVDs, so you can't find anything where you expect it to be.

Mr. West, just order from Amazon. You get want you want, it's cheaper, and you don't have to listen to Papa Roach while you're shopping.
Aye.

I went to the flagship HMV when I moved to London expecting there to be more choice. Turns out they just have 4 times the units of the same shit. Fortunately, there are plenty of wicked record shops I've found in London since. I've pretty much given up buying records which aren't second hand now.

Maybe, thats what they think sells, maybe it does, because they are still about, I wouldnt buy them???

The closest thing to HMV/Virgin/Tower we have around here is Sam Goody, which has all the appeal of a dumpster on a sunny August afternoon.

Fortunately we have this wonderful institution called Cheapo. The only problem I have with that place is getting out before all my money is spent.

I mean, they always have the weird and expensive imports (that you have read about but never seen) and all the classics that you forgot you used to own on vinyl, and of course those very rare "you will never see this again, so buy it now!" sort of items.

A dangerous place altogether.

I wanted to buy an album called Kesto (I think) and for the past year none of these "Major" shops have had it.

None of this really matters at the end of the day. As soon as everyone in america has a computer, almost all stores will move online.
